Mel Nurse has concerns about takeover

Mel Nurse, who led the group that helped save Swansea City from bankruptcy in 2002, has concerns over plans for a US takeover of the club.

American businessmen Jason Levien and Steve Kaplan lead a consortium that is in talks to buy a 60% stake.

Swansea City Supporters' Trust will retain its full 21.1% holding, but former player Nurse, 78, is worried the club could lose its identity.

"I'm concerned because it's going out of the hands of local people," he said.

"I'm not going to say they're not going to advance the club, because we don't know what the future is going to hold.

"But up until now the club has been run by Swansea people."

Nurse was speaking after being given the freedom of the city in Swansea on Thursday.

OK i can understand his concern but what are we to do. There is no local people with enough money to take over, the club exhausted that route first and without funding we are going nowhere fast. I dont think the club would enter into negotiations with these yanks if they thought they would jeopardize the club in any way and i like that they have not rushed into anything with their eyes shut and credit to these yanks they have took their time also. I don't think Mel or any of us have to worry to much as i think its for the best way forward for the club for the future.......I hope....

 

Sir Terence Matthews, is Wales first Bilionaire, and is on the Swansea Bay City Region board, give him a bell Dai, and ask him if he wants to add a footy club, to his Golf and Hotel portfolio...........

 

So Mel agrees with us and you can 'understand his concerns'. When we were saying the same thing you responded thus:

"The club is happy with what they said so there is no reason is there to rubbish them before you know the facts. Fans moan for the sake of it and that's so pathetic you could not make it up.....you dont even know why your objecting too ffs."

Not really the positives out weigh the negatives and i dont think we have anything to worry about. If it was done in a couple of weeks then yes i would have concerns but not the way the club has gone about it taking their time and making sure it's best the deal for the club.....
