Saturday's match against Wolves highlighted Raul's strngths as a dynamic midfielder and also showed why Hodgson struggled to get results from this squad. In essence football is a team sport which means as much as Gerrard would love to play in the Centre of the pitch it makes sense that he takes up a position where the strengths of he squad would be utilized.

One of Gerrard's most productive seasons came on the right and with Maxi on the other side,we have two players with a beautiful understanding with Torres. With them switching positions, this would make Liverpool more than potent at the front. Raul's more disciplined awareness reduces the risk for counter attacks.

    Thoughts?

I agree he would be great out their again. Rumour was that he didnt like it but i think if kenny is in charge he'll do as he's told!

Personally I'd line up like this,

    Reina

    Kelly-Carra(Skrt's) Agg's Johno

    Raul-Lucas-Stevie

    Kuyt (Suarez maybe) - Torres - Maxi/Pacheco

I will admit I have not watched Suarez play but my understanding is that he plays as a wide striker. I prefer Gerrard further up the field because he is too direct(meaning the only damage he would cause is to the oponnents net). When in midfield, that quality tends into us losing possesion as he is not pretty measured when it comes to build up play.

It's always a tougie, I agree that he's more effective up front but we would then be sacrificing someone for him...

    Pehaps,

    Same back four and Pep

    Reina

    Kelly-Carra(Skrt's) Agg's Johno

    Raul-Lucas-Adam?

    Stevie

    Kuyt (Suarez maybe) - Torres

That would be some squad if those transfers can go through. All thats left is for a left back but we would still require a specialist winger to enable the gaffer more variation especialy with park the bus teams.

Sounds daft now but Adam Johnson... If he fell down the pecking order in a similar way to Adebayor i can see him wanting to leave, and he'd be a good signing for us.... probably just dreaming though!

Arda Turan's name gets thrown about a lot although i confess i've never seen him play outside FIFA11....

I'd like us to get Iker Munian from Athletic Bibao they've been on Sky Sports loads this season and i've seen him play a lot he's supposed to be a striker but he plays left wing.. he's 17-18 could be the future! NESV sign him up!

Wow... thinking of playing Suarez and Torres together... oh how things have changed.

actually it's quite poignant to go back to this game as it was the owl's last in charge
