Oh for ****s sake, this is ridiculous: 1) Roary is surely asexual. Nobody has ever hinted at it being a male tiger. 2) This image of what a female would look like is possibly one of the most sexist things I have ever seen in my life. If I was a woman I'd be both disgusted and insulted. The club really is making some ****ing woeful decisons at the moment.
....and over reaction of the week goes to BCC. It's only for the kids.... edit: oh hang on you're not been serious
Im being entirely serious. This is the image of a female that is meant to appeal to kids? Yes you wear a ribbon in your hair luv and do the shopping, just dont ever aspire to anything will you? Have I just wandered into the 1970s or something?
Trust me, we had it worse when we were in League One. Prepare to die in a fit of laughter. Its O.K. for me to share these pictures with you because i've got the 'at least we've got out name' buy out. please log in to view this image There he is. Marvel at that beauty. Seems to me a few clubs are rolling out this kind of scheme, as in one female and one male mascot. Can see a few points of view here. 1. Quite sexist in a way - not all women wear bow ties, skirts and carry shopping bags around with them. 2. What's wrong with just Roary? Kids love Roary as it is. When I sat in the East Stand last year, hundreds of kids would flock to him, and as I've been going since Roary's first season - that's how it's always been (even when it was the Scot who became Alexander the Greek afterwards). 3. All this "it's good for the kids" lark. In a way, yes. But after a few games... will it really make a difference? A mascot is a mascot! This'll sound stupid, but during my first season at the tender age of 7, Roary (Alexander the Greek) was my hero. Saddens me to see this; but it's not really too much of a surprise the way "modern football" is going.
Huddersfield had a weird one... please log in to view this image Though not quite as bizarre as Everton's Mr Testicles(though it was for a good cause)... please log in to view this image
I just clicked back on this in case I dreamt it. I really cant believe it.... Just when you think an organisation cant make any bigger PR blunders, it manages to do so. Or is this an ingenious way to attract loads of well deserved flak and mockery to take the name change out of the limelight? If it is, then I take it all back and it's brilliant.
It's a like a day out at Big Fun these days, going to football. I'm not keen on this daft bint Amber suddenly turning up from nowhere. Premiership bandwagon jumper, and no mistake. Can't we have the ballbag instead?
I just showed the pic to the wife, as she tends to get a bit uppity on the whole gender issue and she just thought it was quite funny! By the way, do you really think kids would get a bad impression of how society views women from that? If so, I think you need a reality check!
