Can't remember a team not in a financial difficulties that has attracted so many rumours at the same time regarding the sale of players and manager leaving as we are at present,I can only surmise that the press can't accept that a club like Southampton could or should compete with the so called big boys ,I suppose it's a compliment to the club that the attention and recognition of the players qualities are being noticed but I do find it annoying ,time will tell what happens this summer but I hope and think no one will leave and we will actually buy better players to add to the squad. ,
Well...it's not just press making stuff up, I'm sure. It seems undeniable that Pochettino, Lallana and Shaw are the subjects of approaches from other clubs.
Of course its happened before, just that a Southampton fan will focus more on Southampton stories than it will on other clubs.
I think as someone said on another thread, the same thing happened to Swansea after they'd had a great season, Michu, Laudrup and anyone else the press deem too good for a "small club" would simply have to go to one of the big boys, the bigger clubs have more fans and generate more clicks or paper sales, so it makes sense for media outlets to drum up interest by pushing stories that involve them.
No, its not a compliment, the stories wouldn't get printed if they were linking Shaw to New York Red Bulls. It's the fans of Man Utd, Liverpool & Spurs the newspapers are trying to get attention (sales) from.
Did anyone get yedterday's Guardian? Cover story was about the imminent move of MP to Spurs, and page 3 Lallana to Liverpool. Apparently, Shaw and Lallana have told Saints they want them to "consider" offers from Man U and Liverpool respectively.
The Benteke rumours last summer were pretty insanely intense like these ones, yet he stayed at Villa. If they get rid of all three main targets, Saints' hierarchy really do need to be shot.
If you believe everything you hear on the media you will be well misinformed, a colleague just heard Solent News announcing Rickie and Morgan are doubts for tonights game against Swansea at the Liberty Stadium tonight! Could be that someone just pressed the wrong button though?
I used to read it but then I learned that it was no more than a mouthpiece for the Board of Liverpool Football club and the accuracy of it's stories could no longer be trusted.
