The more I read in the 'popular' press, the mre I am convinced that journalists lack any credence or intelligence about the subjects they write about. This is not just an observation of the back pages but generally speaking, journalists appear to be lazy, dvoid of research ability and generally just want a cheap headline. I note with amusement that on the BBC site there is an article titled"Arsenal are not a big club" by someone called Robbie Savage - who is he?
You have to remember that the title is won off the pitch as much as on it. If you can settle the opposition team players via media then that is another weapon you can use in battle. Over the past decade I have seen how the rag press always do their best to back united and put other teams in a bad light. They particularly love doing this to Arsenal as we are very easy targets. Known for bringing in a lot of foreign players and a French manager also we are known to have a very multicultural fan base. When it comes to picking targets we are as easy as it gets for the right wing views of the sun. Coupled with the fact we play some decent football and are always considered a threat to United (no matter what you hear different) then that is the reason we get treated with such contempt. Each season is comparable to a race for the presidency or priministerial election. With the media backing who they would like to see win and will do whatever it takes to make all other opposition look bad in the public eye. With regard to Arsenal the xenophobic stance is always a winner which is why we see the type of journalism we do. I don't take it personal I just make sure I don't buy the **** it's printed on.
