I have posted my views on other threads, this post is not about the rights and wrongs of the situation, it's about how those like me who are opposed to the dropping of City from the clubs name should react in a way that makes Assem and Ehab Allam understand why we oppose the change.

After the initial knee jerk responses from posters, we need to calm down and consider what we need to do next.

I suggest the formation of a supporters group made up of representatives from all forums, the OSC and the HCSS.
A collective statement should be produced, reflecting the fans views and supported by opinion polls conducted in each section. This poll should be based on fans only giving one opinion per section, ie if you are asked by Not606Hull for an opinion, you do not give an opinion on an OSC as well.
As well as reflecting opinion the supporters group should put together its own proposal for a name change. For instance rebrand the club as Hull City (The Tigers)
The group would offer to work with the club on this sole issue.

Some of the wording in emails and posts is really not helpful. Posters need to consider that calling someone a lier is not going to change their view, but saying that you think that they are wrong in a structured and well mannered way could be fruitful.

Lets not lose the fact, that if you want to be taken seriously. You have to have a mandate and clear evidence to back up what you propose.

But the city is not going away. The AFC is being changed to Tigers.

Only locally its staying, nationally its Hull Tigers not sure how this works though but this will be far to complicated so part 2 will be dropping the "city" all together because its common and now confusing

Throw Brady's bunch, Tickler, Strovolos and Pattynchips all in room and observe what unfolds... that'd be worth a few quid to see.

I just can't understand where this nostalgia for AFC has come from.
I remember watching City playing in the old 4th division and playing such awful football that AFC could have stood for Amateur Football Club.

I have never used AFC, if people ever asked me who I support it's Hull City, it most certainly will never be Hull City AFC.

Do you actually read the reports in the press or do you just gloss over them. The City is been removed nationally and internationally from the name. Other than Hull we are going to be called Hull Tigers.<steam><doh>

I would rather be called "Amateur football club" than sound like new team in the ****ing NFL

One opinion per section is contrary to one opinion in total which I think is what you meant.

Why should we suggest a name change if we don't want a name change.

If Thompson is shown to be a liar I don't see why we should ignore it. I want the Allam's to know that lying is not acceptable. I don't think Thompson would have made the statement of his own volition. Yes Men don't do that.

So you don't agree with the plan to get rid of "City"?

I wonder who dreamed up that idea. I'm sure the Yes Men said it was a wonderful idea.

Manchester United were able to show their opposition to Glazer by wearing their old colours of yellow and green with scarves and shirts.

Given our massive media profile now and the rest of the season, something similar that fans could wear to games and be seen on the tv every week and in newspaper/magazine photos would be ideal.

Then the message would be rammed home every week and every time we are featured.

Scarves would be easier and cheaper but what colours ?

Blue and white from 1935/36? Anyone got any ideas?

A big flag or two to be shown at all games (East Stand at home along the front - and all away games).

I haven't bought my replica shirt yet, and now I'm of a mind not to. I'll continue to support the team, obviously, but not the commercial side.

I seem to remember a few years back that someone posted the name of a company that supplied unofficial replicas - anybody know who it was? Perhaps if the decision is seen to be financially painful it might be reconsidered?

I'm know of at least one protest flag that's on order. More would be better.

There's certainly a marketing opportunity here for unofficial merchandisers to fill a void. Bright amber with the scroll font HULL CITY AFC that was used on the shirts a few years back would stand out.

I wouldn't buy anything from that shop now.

I was considering getting the home shirt, but **** it now.

It has to be a true reflection of the numbers I could take part in three different polls and that would distort the total figures.
Assem Allam wants change, we have to respect that. It's the dropping of the word City that is IMO the cause of most concern.
