Just seen this on Facebook Hull City A.F.C. Don't sell McShane, Super Paul McShane..... Don't worry, we're not - he signed a new two-year deal today!
ASIF this was ever going to happen. Hull City not keeping hold of McShane. Another of the ROI collective who have had a short summer. Sound bites appear to be that long summer holidays are not required.
Loved the facebook status, quite often the club get accused of not been in touch with the fans but was nice to add the chant.
He deserved the McShame title when he was playing under weak management like NP and Barmby, but he has really shone under SB. I am glad that he has signed a 2 year deal, I think he has a part to play in the BPL.
Philip Buckingham ‏@PJBuckingham 7h #hcafc quell threats of a riot by agreeing a new 2-year deal with fans' favourite Paul McShane. New deal signed before training this morning
Well, Tickles. You were wrong. It was sort of glaringly obvious that McShane (the Messiah) was going to sign a new deal when Bruce guaranteed that he would be offered a new contract regardless of what League we were in. With Promotion, it was pretty obvious he'd sign for his Wage increase (and obviously the Club needed to prevent the impending riots that would ensue should he depart).
He played well last season and his reckless side seemed to be toned down massively. I am still not entirely convinced about him though and there still were quite a few times when I thought he was at fault. He will surely only be back up next season and I hope he isn't called on too much.
His head was never right at us. He had no idea what was going on but to be fair to him he was utterly committed.
His head was never right with us until last season. This year we signed Alex Bruce who everyone decided was going to be the **** defender so it became okay to like McShane, that coinciding with better performances from him, but still not as good as our better defenders, led to him becoming a massive fans' favourite. It started off ironic, but I think people were serious about it by the end of the season. He won the phone-in Man of the Match award pretty much every game last season.
