Apparently McShane has picked up a calf injury in training and has returned from the Ireland camp to be treated at Hull City. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/8246224/? Apparently in the above article it said McShane had a scan on an injury earlier this week, but I don't remember reading anything about it, did I miss something there? Moreover, will he be fit to face Brum on Saturday? If not and Alex Bruce doesn't make it, then it looks like only Chester and Faye will be fit enough so that might force us into a 4-4-2. I know Evans can cover there but he's playing his best stuff as a midfielder at the moment and we don't want to discourage that. It's probably a game too soon for Hobbs as well, so the squad is thinning out rather quickly. Can we recall Sonny Bradley from Aldershot? (Anybody see his howler on Saturday?)
It also looks as though Meyler wants to be at Sunderland in the long term, rather than dropping down a division. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11695/8245876?
well what did you expect? Do you really think we will ever be chosen over a prem team? He's still young and has high hopes and rightfully so
What do you want him to say? "I prefer it here than at slumberland and I hope I can join permanently in January" Not that I'm saying he does want to come here long term, but he's not going to say anything other than what he said to the press is he
How about saying "I don't know, we'll see where we are on January 1st." Not, (albeit not directly) no. Or yes. When they asked Leon Clarke at Scunthorpe, he said "We haven't discussed it much, but if the opportunity is there and there is no opportunity at Charlton, I'll consider it" I'm not pissed off at what Meyler said, but frankly I wouldn't be fussed if he didn't stay beyond his loan spell. He's a good addition to the squad, but he is nothing better than what we have already and if we really wanted to, we could do better in January.
He's a Premier League player who's come to us to get fit, Sunderland get a fit player back and we get the use of his services while he gets fit. Good deal all round, he doesn't need to pretend he wants to be a Hull City player.
He gifted them possession. Then couldn't track back quick enough to recover the ball. After it went in, he sort of slumped onto the floor. Sounds like a shame, he's apparently been doing well, which considering their league position was quite surprising to hear.
I doubt we need to recall Bradley for starters. But if McShane and Bruce dont make Brum then we have enough cover. Going back to say 4 - 5 - 1 maybe the way for this game.? Then again staying with 3 - 5 - 2 with Chester - Faye and Rosenoir as the back 3 would not bother me either. I would suggest that Meyler wants to be a PL player long term would be more apt. But what else would you expect Meyler to say.? Lets see how he goes first before thinking about his return to the mackems. MON may not want him even in Jan and the loan could be extended for the season ???
I thought his interview was obnoxious. I dont know what else he was supposed to say, perhaps it was the tone. If he does want to be a regular at sunderland he is going to need to impress while he is here. Anything less and it wont happen.
What the hell is Meyler supposed to say then. He is a Sunderland player and he wants to get games in then go back and prove to their manager he has a future there. Cattermole has just be injured ffs, so whats he supposed to say. Thats the problem with the loan system but as Lammie says, if he comes here and plays a good number of games and leaves us in a better position why would we moan. OBNOXIOUS, FFS
Elmohamady will be exactly the same. I would be worried if the players didn't want to play at the highest level
