On loan until January. Not sure if the official site's been updated with the news.

Rather pleased by this to say the least.

I don't rate McManus as much as some on here, he's just better than either Fonts or Tangle which isn't difficult.
To get the best out of a bad situation I hope McInnes sees sense and plays him alongside Carey.

Why so negative, McManus is a quality commanding CH, add Dawson to the mix and we have a Sid platform.

SAying that some people will never be happy with the managers choice.

    'RP
    Why so negative'

LPA 2012 or anyone else - Don't get confused with objectivity.

Can't see our results improving either - not until we get Elliot back to bolster our defence.
Other than Skuse all we have in midfield is bloody girls.

Yep happy with this signing, he has been here before and did well, however I still believe Bikey had a bigger influence in steadying the defence during his time here, but this has to be good news. Like most others I still strongly believe we need another CB as Louis is to old, and Tangledfeet and Fonts are just not good enough to play at this level week in week out. Again well done DMac

Whichever way you look at it, it HAS to be better than we have at the moment surely?........did a decent enough job for us before, never going to set the world alight granted, but when needs must.............

This the best news i have heard this season.
However, i will be more positive when SL
pays out a bunch of cash and Del finds us a comanding young centre back

Don't confuse being able to head a ball and be physical with quality. His abilty to pass a ball is limited to white knuckle ride standard e.g Birmingham away.

    Wurzel - Who's confused - I didn't liken him to Xavi.

The job he does in both boxes is crucial, 2 starts this season for Elliott, both away and 4 points.
He's the best by far in our current squad performing that essential role.
Woolford, Pearson or that moaning Aussie aren't good at anything.

RP I think you are confused my way of reading Wurzles quote was he was repling to LPA 2012

Anyway McManus was an improvement to what we have at the moment plus all of the other targets have turned us down. So we will just have to deal with what we got or can get.

This is good news. Shore up the back and we're a team that will hold it's own. His presence may breathe confidence in some of those that are at a low ebb right now.

Although on the surface this is a good move to try and shore up a very suspect defence it does nothing for the long term stabilty of BCFC. We can use the excuse of injuries, and a valid point it is, but getting good players to commit to a long term future at Ashton Gate seems to be a baseline problem that we have been incapable of solving for far too many seasons.

Looking back we seem to have a problem accepting that players who can't get in their own teams starting line up are more than acceptable for Bristol City albeit on a short term loan. On the other side of the coin no-one seems to want our players who are reaching their best before date and this creates a problem with wages that we cannot afford to pay over the long term

Going around the house a bit on this one so who would want to be a football manager - not me for sure.

P.S. Keep up the good work Derek and things will work out - trust us!

Personally think it was a clever deal, he's out of contract at the end of the season and we can always extend the loan in January, he'll be 31 next year so at Middlesbrough it was his last big wage, so if he enjoys his time here we will snap him up on the free and he will have to settle for what we offer, a bit like the Pearson deal
