Just wondered what peoples thoughts on mcleans current form is. I fear team's/managers have sussed him out now, & a bit of a one trick pony. He's got bags of energy and works tirelessly for the team. Hope he's still learning & can improve.
Young players are often inconsistent. I think he's shown enough to suggest he could be a very good player for you for years to come and an absolute steal for the pittance you paid for him. There's a chance he'll not come good or he'll break his leg and never live up to his recent hype but that's a chance with any player. All-in-all i'd say he looks like a gem and the type of play MoN loves.
i have said this from the start he can only use one foot... however he is still with his speed and strength one of the better wingers in the league and is still getting in some great crosses every game If he doesnt go to the euros i want to get a coach working with him (during pre season) to get him using his right foot and improving his alround game
For crying out loud he's still only a boy.Incidentally for someone who has allegedly lost form,he was magnificent coming in for Eire last week. so stop looking for something that isn't there
One thing id like to see is MON swapping the wingers around mid game for a few minutes. Confuses the hell out of defenders and id love to see what McClean can do cutting in onto his left foot. Imagine being a left back marking Sebastian Larsson for 60 minutes then all of a sudden you have a strong pacy left footer running at you and pulling you onto your weaker side.
Come on lads FFS he has come into the team under MON and is still learning, not sure how old he is but reckon he's got a few years left in him. No bubbles bursting or beachballs for that matter we won yesterday by the way or was that just a side show?
The kid has made a massive step up FFS & taken to it like a duck to water. Nowt to worry about for me.
whould love it... thats why im saying getting using both feet then he can play both wings effectivly however seb couldnt play left wing could he??
i have no problems with the lad he has slotted in very well and become a valuable member of our good squad
I actually think he will improve, and has all the attributes. Calm down. Just seen a few young lads who I thought would make it, not quite make the grade, that's why I asked the question.
He works his socks off for the team. 100% committed to the cause... He will improve with experience, season on season, and he will become stronger. Strength is so important at this level.
It's quite embarassing how some of our fans hype players up and then shoot them straight back down again after a few months! McClean was the best thing since sliced bread a few months ago, and now people are used to seeing his name on the teamsheet their nit picking for faults. The lad is 22 and in his first season in the Premierleague for fook's sake, give him a break!
Just having him on the pitch helps, don't know how many noticed yesterday, every time he got the ball, or even got into a good position he had two defenders on him. Drags defenders out creating more space. I think he is good, a bit raw but good.
takes 2 or 3 players out of the game and still gets amazing crosses in for .**** sakes get a grip this kid is the next wonder kid
Lads the OP hasnt done anything wrong... he is just saying there is a chance he could be sussed out for only having one foot and its true... stop having a go at him
