Aaron bless him is doing all the work a big man would be doing if we had one. His header at Cov for the goal showed that and he was fighting off lads a good foot taller than him yesterday. I'm hoping that NP and Walsh have some targets in mind for next season as I think we'll see a different player, in McLean, if we get a big man in the team. Fryatt and Simpson would also benefit.
McLean may not be an out an out striker but he certainly has the pace, strengh and for sure he has the jumping power
To me the team is crying out for big man to play some role in team selection. We get bullied by big physical teams and perhaps this is the main reason we struggle at home to score goals. Not quite sure whether or not Nige fancies a big un - he didn't play Howard much at Leicester as I recall. That said we are missing the pace and directness of Cameron Stewart, a player that puts the opposition defence on the back foot and stops them taking a high line up the pitch - David Amoo doesn't seem to be in the same class.
big man to play alongside fryatt would be more like it...he looks dangerous everytime hes around the box, just unfortunatley has to feed on scraps for long periods..
I think Mcleans turning into the back-up scapegoat for Harper in some fans eyes, always been the way at City though, some poor buggers always getting slagged off.
i think mclean and fryatt both loook great but both would benefit playing next to a big striker.hopefully we will sign some big lads close season as we are lacking some height in most positions
Do you see Fryatt & Mclean playing off a target man as a "3" as Mclean seems to be able to do a job too or in a 4-4-2 with Mclean playing as a winger just out of interest.
We either need a target man or somebody who can pass the ball in midfield. This long ball to short strikers isn't working at all, the only times we had chances was when the ball was sent to the wing and then crossed in behind the defence. We need a player who can ping the ball to the wingers who can then put it in behind the defence. Can't think where we'd get such a man though...
We may have two very good strikers, but we have a shockingly bad midfield. Simpson had a long run in the side without scoring, he then scored so naturally he was dropped.
That's not good for him, you would have thought when you brought him in that he would get about 15-20 well at least the 15 as he was a good player.
I saw him playing for QPR last season, when we signed him this season he looked about 2 stone heavier around the gut.
Simpson's got 5 league goals (2 at Sheff United, 2 vs Brizzle City at home and 1 at Ipswich). And TWF, you really are a moron. What you meant to say was he went 15 games without a goal, then got 4 in 2 at the end of December - BEFORE we signed McLean and Fryatt. Maybe if he'd done more in the games he had played Pearson would have had more patience with him.
Shockingly bad at attacking then. They're definitely the weak link in the team. More or less what I did say. Long run without scoring, then scored, got dropped.
