I was listening to Gareth Ainsworth on Talksport yesterday morning and after talking about how well he'd done to keep Wycombe up on the last day the talk switched to the play-offs. Gazza said he still sees many of the R's players and commented that all those he has spoken to were of the opinion that Steve McLaren was the best coach they'd ever worked with and it's no surprise that our form seemed to tail off after he left for Derby and theirs improved so dramatically. He said there's no doubt Derby are strong favourites to win the play-offs but hopes our experience might just sway it if we make the final. He's still an R at heart...
Thanks for that Soops. Gareth is right up there in my all time favourite players, someone who cleared loved playing football. I guess that we should be grateful that we had McLaren for that short spell rather than bemoan his leaving; I doubt that we'd be in the play-offs otherwise.
And I had him down as the Wally with the Brolly. Seriously, he did well for us, and what a transformation at Derby. Think Gazza has called it about right, still, I can't think about the final right now...
