If Jimmy doesn't leave us, therefore meaning we'll play him, how good do you think a McKenna - Bullard central midfield partnership would be if Jimmy put his heart into it?

I could personally see it working really well, the two compliment each others style of play. :bandit:

Pointless subject really, Bullard wont be with us come the end of the transfer window, be it sold to QPR, Norwich, Blackburn or Wigan, or loaned out again with his wages part paid by us.

when he came back in the team last september/october...do people think he was playing with heart?

serious question, because i remember him never giving the ball away, and even tho he was played just in front of the back 4 still looked head and shoulders above everybody...so my point is if thats him not being interested, id still take it over a committed donkey (harper)

Lets face it the guy has us by the short and curlies; the stupid contract means we will always be caught between playing him (ie build a team round him) and getting his face somewhere else so his expensive presence doesn't cause mayhem and relieves the cost a bit.

    It's a no-win situation.

FFS he hasn't got me by the short and curlies! Get off his fukking back guys. If anyone of you were offered a similar deal would you jack it in coz some knob head was jealous? NO you wouldn't would you?

I agree with DJ, he's head and shoulders better than our best 11, if we seriously want to compete with West Ham, Birmingham, Leicester, TWS, Cardiff etc then we need Bullard!

Exactly, we've got a player who should really be playing in the top half of the Premiership. Management should budget around him, his presence would take us from distinctly average to promotion contenders.

If we can't move him on then the unthinkable might happen:

    Guzan

    Rosenior Hobbs Chester Dudgeon

    Evans Bullard McKenna

    Stewart Fryatt Simpson

If Bullard doesn't play then maybe we might get lucky and get Danns for that role or maybe just get another Man Utd loanee in the creative centre mid position.

    Looks decent to me (IMO)

His knees are bad but he did get a fair few goals at Ipswich, although people have also said he drifted out of games.

He's a good player, no one can argue with that, and if he played long enough injury free he would be a valuable asset. However, going by the amount of times he stays injury free in a season, building a team/budget around Bullard like Percy says would be naive to say the least. He won't exactly provide 'presence' sat on the treatment table will he? He's looked good at times when he has come back, but if he only plays 3/4 games like he did last Autumn, then gets a knock and is out for weeks/months, then we're in no different a position as to what we were in this season with the midfield. However, i think this is immaterial as i doubt Bullard will still be with us next season, it's best for everyone concerned that he goes to pastures new.

He is undoubtedly a very good player when he can be arsed, the problem is he does not want to be here. When he was in the team earlier last season his form was sporadic to say the least. Although he had some decent moments, for large parts of games he was innefective. His patchy form was the reason why he was dropped.

It's all very well saying "build a team around him" if he ends up staying, but people seem to forget that he was not even getting in the team, which is why he ended up going out on loan in the first place. Also, he appears to be a disruptive element in the changing room, which NP simply won't put up with.

All in all, it is best for all concerned if we can get rid of him if at all possible.

This is a good debate, I'm surprised we haven't discussed it before, I suggest we all meet back here tomorrow, so we can discuss it again. Yeah?

When you see West Ham are signing Kevin Nolan, Brum have got Marlon and good rumours of Ipswich signing Jason Roberts with Chopra there already you realise we need to move up a gear. For god sake for what little we saved loaning JB and Oli last season lets play them this season. The biggest waste last year was 1.2 million on Mclean.

I'm back on the fence with this one, Jimmy will play for Hull City if we show that we want him and just honour his contract.
Lets face it every team in this division would give anything to have a player like him in their squad, nobody is going to pony up the money to pay his full wages so we are stuck with him for another couple of years.
Niel Danns is'nt a quarter of the player Jimmy Bullard is and we would offer him nearly half his wages probably to get him here, McKenna? please he is way older than JB and we talking about giving him a 2 year contract. Adebola I'm not even going to go into that.
He's ours bite the bullet I say and take advantage of what we have, he aint just going to dissapear so I suppose we should just shell out the 4 million for a couple of years and get the best out of him that we can

Danns is also injury prone. I think the management should just bite the bullet with Bullard and keep him here, Oli too if possible, would make for a cracking midfield.
