Both are expected to be fit in time for the Brighton game: http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/story-13490713-detail/story.html? Question: Would you have them back - starting? Or on the bench, so we keep the same line-up that beat Cardiff?
I would bring them both back in. I arent a big fan of Mckenna but i am struggling to see what Evans brings to the team. I hoped he and TC would form a good partnership but it doesnt look likely so Koren back to LM, with licence to cut in and TC and Mckenna restored to CM.
You actually being serious putting Koren on LM! He has been our best player playing in CM, you obvs are not a season pass holder from that comment! Lets put Cairney in who should be nicknamed the crab as he only ever passes sideways or even worse backwards!
I would keep the same team to give continuity a chance and keep faith with a winning team. TC or Mac on the bench (or both), a tough one as the bench needs have a GK, defender, and maybe two strikers as well.
was just about to put same team with a bench of Gulacsi, McShane, Cairney, Mckenna and Mclean and then thought i can't drop Barmby so to tough to choose for me
the only change that I would be looking to make is in place of Pusic. But we don't have anyone else (fit) who is a natural wide player. Koren can & has done this but he has been far more effective in CM so would keep him there. we have quite a strong squad now for most positions. I am glad Macca is fit again for cover at CB and RB which seems to be thin. that the likes of McKenna and Cairney aren't automatically back in the team when they were first choices before injury is a good indicator of strength.
I'd start with the same team as Cardiff, it was our best performance so far this season, no need to mess with it.
I think a lot of people look at Koren and they only see what he does when he has the ball. The goal at Donny and Cardiff's goal were caused (amongst other reasons) because he failed to track back. At Donny he stood like a statue on the edge of the penalty are whilst two attackers ran past him to go two-on-one against James Chester. If you look at the highlights, Chester turns round after the goal , shouting with his arms waving. That was directed at Koren. In Cardiff game their goal came from a hoof upfield from their goalie that was nodded down by Hobbs into a huge hole in midfield where Rawls had complete unchallenged freedom to volley over Basso. Again where was Koren? On the halfway line. Evans had tracked back and was covering another runner, but Rawls was free. I've said many times that Koren is a real problem. He has masses of talent and you feel obliged to play him, but if you do you have to build your whole side around him because he is gash at defending. The best way of playing him is off a big centre forward or at the head of a diamond. We don't have a big centre forward and if you play a diamond you cannot play wingers, which is Nigel Pearson's style. Playing him in centrral midfield means when you are without the ball, you are a man short in the middle. Any coach worth their salt will recognise that and take advantage of it.
SIMPLES. keep the same starting 11 as cardiff (if all fit) but replace mcshane and harper on the bench. end of. a bench of gulacsi - mckenna - cairney - barmby and mcLean. looks good to me. remember corey evans can also play in defence. mcshane needs more reserve games first.
thats a tad harsh as i felt that Ralls goal was a simple hit and hope job. he could do that another 99 times and not even get it on target. yes it was a good goal but to simply blame koren for it is very harsh. on another day it could have been 4 or 5 goals so do you want to blame the attackers for missing chances. as olm has said, the cardiff team performance was the best this season so leave the team alone. i am sure that NP will have a word or 2 in korens ear if he thinks the same as you. the cardiff starting 11 deserve another chance at the very least, imo.
That massive signature on all your posts is really irritating, it fills the whole bloody page, what's wrong with having it normal size?
Yes thats right i would put our preferred (by NP) starting CM pairing back together. Whether i am a season pass holder or not is immaterial ( I am incidentally). Oh yes he is terrible isnt he TC absolutely. The guy furthest down the pecking order preseason, with plenty of rumours of him going out on loan. He has stood up and won over NP and the majority of supporters.
Well, Strov, you make a good case. I wasn't at the Cardiff game - only going by the result (and comments on here) - so thought Koren should play CM. If his lack of defensive play leaves us vulnerable, then maybe he should play at LM and be allowed to drift into the centre. But we'd obviously need to cover the space he left.....
Cairney doesn't track back and tackle either, so neither of them offer you that, Koren has a better all round game and is more likely to score, so he gets the nod from me.
Yes he does, he didnt but has this season. Koren hasnt played in his "preferred" position throughout his time here or at West Brom. The reason being............................ Strovolos' answer.
He's done more this season than he did last season, but there's still not a fat lot between them when it comes to tracking back, or winning the ball.
Disagree completely. TC far better at both. Looking at it another way the team is stronger with Koren and TC in it than Koren and Pusic? O/T slightly but Wellens isnt playing and the Leicester lot are saying its better with out him. Danns is coming to the fore now.
If the next match was at home I'd say if it wasn't broke don't try to fix..... as it's away I'd bring McKenna back into the centre of midfield. Brady, Koren, McKenna, Pusic.
hope your wrong. imo, regardless of where the team is playing NP has to go with the same team @ brighton after the cardiff performance. otherwise its sends out the wrong vibes to everyone. all this tracking back and tackling will not have gone unNoticed by the management. as has been said already if it aint broke then dont try to fix it. (fitness as always after the international break will play a part)
