With the season now over, contracts ending,over-paid superstars moved on,Sexstone booted out,Louis and his derby match decided, the rumour mill working at full tilt, our new principle partner and away shirt sponsor announced, new season ticket sales approaching 8000 plus,Bristol City announced as the ' Friendliest Club' in the league and most important of all our safety next season gauranteed it's no wonder McInnes has not had time to scratch his proverbial but today he has made an announcement about our next seasons new arrivals.....

"We are looking for types different from those we have already. We want a goalkeeper, a couple of defenders, a couple of midfielders and a striker as well. We are looking to strengthen right across the board."

Progress is being made,we've just got to be patient but at least we know now what he is looking for....don't we...?

McInnes intends to build around key contracted players Liam Fontaine, Cole Skuse, Marvin Elliott and Albert Adomah.

To heck with what Derek wants, as long as shiny is happy the season is underway. On a serious note, most of us suspected when DM came aboard that we had finally hired a football savvy manager and now is his time to prove us right. When things weren't going well I saw some of us questioning whether we had gone for the cheap option once again and those heads will probably pop back up again if we don't start the new season positively.

Many of us have also commented that this is a rebuilding venture from the ground up and will take time to complete, and based on DM's comments it looks like that process is firmly in his mind and actions. Be honest guys, this process should have been undertaken when we rose from League 1 rather than 5 years too late and we must all believe that our new manager will complete that task in a clear and concise manner based on football acumen. Derek McInnes gives me the impression that he does not want to be considered a cheerful chappy or a nice guy but rather as a manager who knows the game inside out and gets the best from his players at all times. I strongly believe he will become a fan favourite for all the right reasons and I am looking forward to his first full season in charge when he doesn't have to deal with the players who had settled in to a country club type atmosphere.

Next season is not going to be a stroll in the park by any means and we need to come up strong right from the off and if Derek gets his type of players then anything is possible, but I think realism should be the order of the day rather than lofty demands. Have a nice and beneficial summer Derek, we're all behind you and support the changes you will bring to Ashton Gate.

Shiny - Jambo quote about Elliot from earlier.

'He was played by Millen every game because he brown-nosed so much in training'

So does Jambo reckon Marv's been 'brown-nosing' McInnes as well.

Jambo's wrong about Elliot - Marv's our No1 CM - and guess what, McInnes agrees.

RP, that was quoting two of our first team players rather than my own assumption. But credit for having the time to find the quote <ok> I may well be wrong as I've said all along it will be interesting to see what the teamsheet is for the first game of the season.

Couldn't have put it better <ok> Hopefully we'll all have a lot more wins to celebrate next season than in the one just gone by. Annoyingly for me, since I started working Saturdays City have been unbeaten in 8. Gonna end up being paid to stay away by the club if it carries on far into next season!

Id say skuse is our best midfielder. When he returned after injury and played in midfield we started winning and went the end of the season undefeated.
Who knows if that would have happpened without skuse returning.
Skuse is the better defensive player with his inch perfect tackles and is now scoring goals. If we can get the best out of skuse then we can go far

It was a general comment on how it appeared that some people were thinking, not a personal thought.
