McGoldrick told TWTD: “I’m happy with my performances, I haven't played well but it doesn't matter, the most important thing is that I'm getting paid.

“In our situation it’s all about results. That’s what we need, more than personal performances. We just have to win games and get points on the board, and if we can stay up and I've conserved my energy for next season when I have a permanent deal somewhere, so much the better.

“The lack of goals isn’t something I’m thinking about and certainly not to the point where it’s a concern. Right now it’s all about making sure the gaffer thinks I'm doing a job for the team – running around a bit.

“I’m more than happy to pull a shirt on and run around for a bit. I think the goals will come from somewhere on the pitch and if I’m selected on Saturday at Huddersfield it will be the same story as in previous games.”

How about a striker who says 'I'm dying to score goals, I just need to stay patient and they will come'. Maybe if he was arsed about scoring some goals it would happen.

Warky, they've got you, you're happy to keep putting up with the substandard football on offer.

I would normally say that at this time we need substance over quality to see us through to the end of the season but I can't help thinking that if we actually had some quality in our play we would do better. Mick has probably told David (and everyone else) to do the ugly things and chase the ball down from the front but I would in a way rather he be told to stay on the last man ready to pounce. We've got two defensive players in the middle who are supposed to deal with the ball coming towards us so why do both of the strikers have to join in too?
I know we need to keep things tight and be hard to beat etc but **** me, we need to give ourselves a chance of scoring too.

And I am at pains to say that Beggars Can't Be Choosers FFS!

A quality striker in a rich vein of form isn't suddenly going to come to a struggling football club who are battling against relegation! Evans wont oay the wages for a top quality striker so we just have to make do with what we've got! <ok> Perhaps rather than continually slating him why not actually support him!

He was in a rich vein of form, I thought that was the whole point.
I just think that the strikers are struggling for goals because they are being told to do more work off the ball rather than remaining in the danger areas. I know needs must and all that but scrapping will only take you so far. Like most sports, technique/skill will normally overcome those who try hard but have little.

Completely agree SD, I mean I never thought Mick would be the most positive of managers but bloody hell we're nearly in Keane territory atm in terms of style of performance, it's dire can't wait for the season to be over and hopefully if we stay up we'll be a bit more entertaining next season. I understand we need to be solid but we're so blunt in attack and poor at keeping the ball in midfield IMO it's doing us more harm than good!!

Maybe if the Negative Hyam showed a little class we might create a few chances for the strikers.........

Just heard Alex Mathie bitching about the fact that both strikers are too busy chasing and defending and that we aren't leaving someone in the danger areas. He has obviously seen it too and is right in the fact that we aren't leaving ourselves an outlet when we do win the ball back.

Feel sorry for you mate, and I hope you're right.
We've not had much luck this season. Bought Taylor to add something to attack, he gets injured. Ditto for Wordsworth. Carson must be a right knob if he hasn't managed to see any game time, especially with our lack of creativity down the wings.

Never said it did, but things aren't working very well with our current wingers either, are they?

Carson may not be the answer but Drury is our only midfield option currently surely having someone like JET on the bench at least would improve our options to change the game!! I've always rated Carson but clearly something is amiss although I fail to see how JET and Carson could do any worse than Edwards and Martin!!

Not working with the forwards or the wingers, so try something else. How many more games is McGoldrick going to be hauled off just after half time having been a waste of space? It's beginning to strike me that McCarthy knows a heck of a lot about defending, and very little about attacking.
