McDonald To Boro - In The Balance

Seems McDonald has agreed to the transfer, however, Boro will not have the funds unless Adam Johnsons transfer to Man City goes ahead.

English transfer deadline is 5pm, up in Scotland it is midnight tonight.

Will the estimated £4m from McDonalds sale be used today?

The Spanish centreback seems likely for approximately £2m, I'd hope we spend the remaining £2m personally. I'm not happy with the prospect of our top scorer leaving, I'd be ****ing livid if he was sold and the cash not used to get real quality in.

Don't understand the plan at all. If we're selling McDonald to get someone better then great. Rasmussen has very little movement, though he'll grab goals he's not the complete package, Kamara drifts in & out of games, Fortune is a battler but not prolific, Samaras is hit & miss to say the least..........even if we did get a McCormack he's no better than McDonald other than the fact he could do a job on the left wing or play behind the lone striker.

I still hope McDonald stays, however, its pretty obvious Mowbray wants rid & will do his best to make sure he leaves in the summer if not now. His comments the other day about his chat with McDonald, or his 'intersting chat' as he called it just reinforced the fact he was telling McDonald he has no future & should leave. Don't think McDonald is a great striker by any means but are any of the above better than him?

Surely if we want to improve the quality of the squad we should be getting rid of the worst player in each posotion. No Celtic fan can ever convince me McDonald is the worst, I find it hard to think he's not the best in truth.

If he is off now & £2m is going on the centreback (never seen him play) I'd like McCormack in. Maybe 5 strikers is one too many but he has the ability to play on the left to improve goals from midfield or in a 4-5-1 behind the lone striker, a job he'd be better at than McGeady with his goalscoring attributes.
