What a joke! What is a new manager expected to do with the 9 games they have left. Should have waited until the end of the season.
Who do we reckon they'll get? Surely they must have someone lined up if they're leaving it this late? (I don't think it'll be Adkins but if it is then i'll weep softly I can't imagine him in the opposite dugout just yet). The owner is known to prefer Russian players so maybe that stretches to managers, any decent manager knocking around unemployed.
I don't think it will be Adkins, as he is still employed by us. That will at the very least slow the whole process down. I hear a rumour that Di Canio may be coming in as interim. To be honest, I don't think this is as bad a decision as you guys are making out. Reading have lost their way recently, and the tactics that Mcdermott has been playing the last few games have been nothing short of ridiculous. Keeping Guthrie and Karacan benched and playing Leigterwood is mental, he has been awful recently. They should have given Villa and Wigan a game, but Mcdermott stuck to 4-4-2 long balls and got found out.
No one can transform them with 9 games to go. They'll continue to play as they have been recently. If they get Adkins, then at least they'll have a good chance of coming straight back up if they do go down this season, but I'd have said the same about McDermott. Real shame.
I think if NA gets the job then he can kiss goodbye to any compo, would hate for the club to lose money but he deserves every last penny for the last two and a half years and for the way he was treated.
Haha! Strange timing but there we go. "McDermott, wooaaahhh! McDermott, wooaaahhh! He used to manage Slough... he's on the dole list now!"
It will be Paolo or Adkins. Either could well keep them up. Bad news for the rest of the bottom 6 this.
I just get the feeling Di Canio wouldn't get away with half the stunts he pulled at Swindon in the Reading dressing room.
It is well worth the gamble. They were certainties for the drop under McDermott. Chuck Paolo in for ten games - it might end in disaster or his appointment could be a stroke of genius. Also, it'll be good practice for him for when we decide we want a change.
Because they were certain to finish bottom under the other bloke. Di Canio would be a total punt but I wouldn't put survival past him. The bloke was a genius as a player and looks like he could be a top manager.
I honestly don't think he's that good a manager. Swindon almost went bankrupt. As someone who follows Southend United, Swindon spent over £1m on agents fees and had a wage bill and transfer fee bill bigger than pretty much everyone in League One last season! They should have won that league and did. Then when they told him the money had gone he threw a tantrum. I won't consider him a good manager till he proves he can work without far superior funds to the opposition.
Not sure I agree with that. Money certainly doesn't guarantee success. Look at Chelsea and this season Man City. My knowledge of lower league football isn't great but I'm pretty sure Crawley and Fleetwood have a few quid and neither are setting their leagues alight.
Even though they are still in touch, it's hard to see who can keep them up with nine games to go. Severely doubt that Nigel will go there. Di Canio maybe but not beyond the end of the season.
