    Fulham confirm signing of McCormack

    08/07/2014
    By West London Sport
Fulham have confirmed the signing of Scotland striker Ross McCormack from Leeds United.

The fee is reported to be £11m and McCormack, 27, has signed a four-year contract at Craven Cottage with the option of a further year.

He handed in a transfer request in an attempt to force the move from Leeds, who signed him from Cardiff in 2010.

McCormack, previously a target for West Ham, netted 28 league goals last season and was the Championship’s top scorer.

He becomes Fulham’s fifth summer signing following the arrivals of ex-Schalke defender Tim Hoogland, Australia forward Adam Taggart, defender Kay Voser from Basel and Motherwell defender Shaun Hutchinson.

I find it hard to believe that he's signed for Fulham and for £11m. I'm sure he could've done a job for someone in the Prem.

I saw it posted that its really 6m and the dodgy Leeds owner is lying to appease the fans.

All transfers and wages should be public knowledge. It would also help keep clubs in check.

Sounds an awful lot of money to me. It will be interesting to see what their attendances will be in the Championship.

I'd be very surprised if it's 11m. That's a ridiculous fee. We were lambasted for spending 4m on Chaz.
With him and Mitroglou that would make the Championships most expensive ever strike force.

Also, been reported that we went for him at 11th hour and he rejected us. That's a laugh in itself. As if we would spend that amount on a Champ player, and further, that he'd reject the chance to play in prem given that he is almost 28.

I hope Fulham get as much stick for their spending as we did.

Even if the fee is exaggerated, when a more accurate figure comes out (like they inevitably do) everyone will still tarnish Fulham with a moneybags tag. Hopefully, this will remove some of the relentless accusations at us for the same thing (which are true but more as a legacy from our last Premiership experiment than the ones thrown at us last season).

They've effectively gone down the route we have and bought a Striker who knows the division and will score them goals to get them out of it.

I personally don't believe for a second that McCormack is worth any more than £3.5-4million, but he almost single handedly kept Leeds in the league last season.

Every source is saying it is 11 million - what a stupid amount to be paying for championship goalscorer. And his record isn't exactly excellent either.

He has only scored above 20 in 2 seasons, only coming close to that with 19 in another. The next closest is 11 and that was for Motherwell in the Socttish Leagues which anyone could do well in.

The irritating thing is that I don't think they will. We were seen as "overstepping our station", wheras I think the press will view Fulham as an established PL club justified in splurging this kind of money. No one likes us! (we don't care :emoticon-0159-music )

He's 28 too so could basically be a one season wonder.
They won't get much back for him either.

Also, looking at his Leeds record - he has a terrible season, then a good one, then a terrible one, then a good one last season. So basically, he is due a bad season next year. Perhaps good timing for Leeds to cash in.

The problem with McCormack is the team has to be set up to play for him, he doesn't fit easily into different formations and isn't 'adaptable'. If Fulham don't play 100% to suit him they'll have an £11 million turkey on their hands...

My understanding from the more I read about this transfer is that we are paying Leeds £6m with add ons dependent on success and appearances that could bring it to £11m.

So, if we end up paying that much, that would suggest we have gone up, won cups, etc and McCormack has played a big part in that success.
