"" Harry wants McClaren to stay for the season 27/09/2013 By West London Sport Harry Redknapp wants Steve McClaren to stay at QPR for the rest of the season. The former England boss joined Rangersâ coaching team on a short-term basis during the summer and has been instrumental in their fine start to the campaign. And manager Redknapp would like McClaren to remain with the club for longer than initially planned and help them get promoted. He said: âHopefully Steve will stay with us this season, help us get where we want to go and then itâs up to him. âHeâs been excellent here. Heâs done a great job and Iâve been delighted with him. Heâs been a good signing for us. âItâs been good to have him around and I think itâs been good for him as well to get back doing some coaching, which he loves and was so successful with.â McClaren, who has been in charge at FC Twente, Wolfsburg and Nottingham Forest since leaving the England job, remains keen to re-enter management in the near future. âIâm sure he will do that,â Redknapp added. âIâm sure when the opportunity comes and the time is right heâll do that.â """
Yes, really hope Steve McClaren stays for the rest of the season in his coaching capacity - for the team photo shoot, he looked quite the part, raring to go, dressed in the Caterham kit.
I wouldn't mind a handover from Harry to him at the end of the season. That would actually be ideal because it wouldn't be like getting a new manager in. He'd already know everyone and Harry could leave him with all he needs.
He's done well since he's come in. Unlike us lot he's yet to see us lose. At the QPR open day you could really see his passion. McClaren and Bond both pick a side like we used to in the school play ground. They then compete in a series of drills. McClaren really didn't want to lose, while Bond thought it was just a laugh. ( Unless they were just doing the old 'Good cop, bad cop' routine. )
Hands up those who would honestly have jumped for joy had Harold moved on in the summer and we appointed McLaren in his place? Looks a good coach, chequered career as a manager to put it mildly - good for Boro and Twente (first time), not so good for England, Wolfsburg, Forest (probably not his fault) and Twente (second time). I'm beginning to think appointing a manager is the biggest lottery in the game - sometimes a face just fits in the right time and place, but I'm pretty sure its luck more than judgement in most cases. McLaren may be the perfect man for the job, what the **** do I know?
I would personally love Stephen to take over as what could be more natural ... I am fed up with our Pre match press interviews where the press treat Harold like the Dalai Lama on all football matters it's becoming less about QPR and more about him Not his fault?... He lives it He loves it and can't be bothered with after the match QPR ... Big clue there He comes across as a honest man ... Maybe he his but he has at least 20 nipples and is constantly being milked The fact that he has even planted a mild seed of him retiring if it's true will be to again flirt with the media He is a Richard Attenborough lovies Make no mistake
