Said it before but fail to follow the logic that if McLaren is unsuccessful at Derby and fails to get promotion (thereby becoming available and willing to move) then he is good enough to lead us in the Premier League.

I can't imagine logic has anything to do with it.

It is far more likely to be to do with money and how little Ashley can get away with paying.

Which means it will be Carver anyway.

Really can't care much about any of it anymore.
Whilst Ashley runs the show it really doesn't matter who is appointed.
You don't need a great manager to run a jumble sale.
The way things stand Carver will do just fine.

McClaren would be stupid to come here. It will only end in tears.

Carver is a poor head coach, but Sir Bobby felt him a decent assistant. Point is that he is a symptom, not cause, of the disease at the club.

Fair play for rousing themselves to try and force Ashley out. I don't think it can/will work, because they're trying to appeal to a side of Ashley that simply doesn't exist. The only thing I think might work for us is Ashley could be encouraged to sell, but retain his loan and offset that against certain commercial advantages. So he could use his model of "forfeiting" interest to subsidize SD advertising without actually needing to own the club. He could still have his Puma deal in place, still control the shop and merchandise, but sell the club itself.

Perhaps this Rangers episode is a test-bed to see what he could get away with at NUFC, without actually needing to own it??
