I heard on the BBC 5 Live station this morning, that Randy Lerner conducted a fans forum via the website about the potential of appointing the next Villa manager. Apparently he took Steve McClaren's name off the shortlist after fans unanimously rejected the idea of the 'wally with the brolly' as manager.

Its interesting that when these forums are the talking point for fans and followers of clubs around the nation, that an owner of a club would use this mode of communication to make such an important decision. Personally, I think McClaren is a bit of a twat but his record in club management is very, very good. Success at Boro (a trophy and a European Cup Final) and a title with lowly FC Twente in his first year. He was shafted by internal politics at Schalke but remains a good coach IMO.

However, it got me thinking. Do you think that Quinn/Bruce and Short ever discuss some of the issues we discuss on these boards? Are we a sounding board (unofficially of course) for the management discussions.

Interesting if it were dont you think?
