If you want and expect to see free flowing and expansive football from Town for the rest of the season then the simple answer is Forget It! The key to our revival under McCarthy (1.63 points per game) is down to sheer hard work and becoming hard to beat. In the 13 games before McCarthy's arrival we had a Goal Difference of -19 and since McCarthy took over our GD is -2! It's going to be scrappy and ugly for the rest of this season but so long as we get the points to stay up then I couldn't give a monkeys! http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/22499/hard-work-the-key-to-towns-revival On the issue of GD just to point out that under Mick we have only conceded 2 more than we have scored during his time so far
Have to say while this is correct, a lack of hard work was not the problem under Jewell, IMO on the whole the players always worked hard. Lack of organisation and being too expansive were. Hard work and organisation should be a given for any team, I think McCarthy does this best but this is because it's what he stands for as a manager. Whilst it results are obviously key atm, I don't think this doesn't mean we could line up with a more balanced team or slightly more attacking players without staying solid. We don't have great wingers, we play 2 DMs which mean we loose the ball soo much because there is a massive space between our midfield and our attacking players which means the ball continuously keeps coming back at us and then with players like McLean and McGoldrick in the team our attack is blunt, even if we were to create alot of chances IMO. I believe we could still stay solid if we were to bring in Drury/Wordsworth into the centre of midfield instead N'Daw or Hyam and we need a more balanced forward line. Either that or change the formation to a 532 or a 451 and please don't put Martin on the left again and please please please do not play Edwards!!! At the minute because we're not keeping the ball often due to our inbalanced personel and lack of an outlet upfront we're bringing more pressure on to ourselves. Watford will be a big test!!
