I wonder if a few in the club office might be a bit relieved that there is a new coach and staff coming in.
We need a coach/manager with some charisma and warmth towards the support.
Someone who looks beyond the players and coaching staff, to build relationships off the football pitch.
All of this “magnificent support today” means **** all of you have only waved to the support once or twice. On Saturday there was a young kid with a sign that said “In Grant We Trust”. He should have had at least a bit of attention from Grant. But nothing. Never even came across. Every one says we need to encourage young supporters, but that was a bad call. By the way, I think signs asking for a players shirt should be banned, I hate them. But a you kid being acknowledged, gets more than that kid hooked, everyone feels good about it. Just look at how Acun has used these types of opportunities.
I don’t disagree but everyone gets the impression Nigel Pearson is a dour and miserable old fart. But everyone who knows him and played under him reckons he’s a rinsing geezer.
Part of the job though really isn’t it talking to the media and fans and for something that’s seemingly so easy and costs nothing there’s a lot of reward for taking just a little time and appearing welcoming and friendly and just being approachable and a lot to lose by not.
