Why did he take this job? I think it just goes to show that not everyone in football does their homework, they don't really know our recent history and they just see that we were in the Premier League recently. Nigel Adkins walked away for a reason and that reason was the Allams.
Fair question. He has repeatedly stated that he's very ambitious ...... yet he's come to a club that has no realistic ambition. OK, probably the wages are better than where he's come from, and it is a division higher, but, just like with Nige, the owners / clubs ambitions are surely not aligned with his. I remember he stated that it all happened very quickly (the offer and acceptance of the role), and he didn't actually talk with Nige about it until after signing. He will have had some awareness of our situation, but maybe you are right with your 2nd sentence. Definitely right with your 3rd. I've questioned before whether he's been / is being 'naive' in terms of stating & adopting from the outset his set tactics. Maybe he's been naive in other ways too? I hope he can make a silk purse out of sow's ear ... but I just don't see it happening.
