And it looks like it won't be Pacquiao. What's more it was never on the cards, Mayweather never wanted it. It won't the next biggest challenge, Sergio Martinez either, seems that he is too big and too skilled. And I'm sad to say it won't be Miguel Cotto, Floyd retired in 2008 rather than face him, and even stated that he can't fight Cotto because he lives in Puerto Rico. Cotto is now a free agent away from Top Rank, but Floyd still sees Miguel as too much of a big risk. Possibility of Alvarez the next biggest challenge, at 154lb, and May 5th being a Mexican holiday. Not even the rest of the best, Khan, Bradley, Peterson, Ortiz/Berto. So who is the front runner to face Mayweather on May 5th, I hear you ask. Well it is the former featherweight Robert Guerrero, who has never fought above lightweight before. So if Guerrero is Mayweather choice how will it be received by the fans. I hope Floyd proves me wrong and takes on a top contender but I won't hold my breath.
My take on the situation is Mayweather called out Pac and if Pac does'nt step up then Mayweather will have to fight someone else. Manny and his camp on the other hand have been caught red handed ducking Mayweather, talking about scheduling a fight on May 5th thinking Floyd was going to jail then backtracking about some cut when they found out Floyd would be available, now the Pac camp are talking about fighting Lamont Peterson and Timothy Bradley. I don't understand how Mayweather can do anything else to make the Pac fight happen, he has called out Pac officially and the Pac camp are coming out with bull**** excuse's about a cut from the Marquez fight.
Pacquiao has said he wants to fight Mayweather in May. If Floyd really wants a fight put in an offer. Lets not forget, Floyd said Pacquiao's next one week, then a week later he said I really mean it, I only said it because it is what the fans wanted to hear. But that is besides the point, even if Floyd doesn't fight Pacquiao there are other good fights he can have, but it looks like he will not fight those either.
It's neither of their faults, they both want it but Arum don't want it because he wants to bleed more money out of Pac by making fights like Pac v Marquez 4, Pac v Bradley and on and on
Pacquiao might say he want's the fight to the fan's but his camp and especially Bob Arum clearly wan't nothing to do with it, the proof is in the pudding, they have out right refused a fight with Floyd saying it make's no economic sense, fair is fair, if Floyd has got stick in the past for ducking when it suit's him then Manny/his camp have to be held accountable for the fight not happening this time.
Exactly, i don't think it's manny though i think it's Arum, Pacquiao loves his fans and supporters too much to deny them the chance to see the fight they all want. Thing that pisses me off is the way Arum said he wouldn't be fighting Floyd on may the 5th a few weeks ago because Manny wouldn't be ready before June and then when Mayweather got sentenced and Arum was asked for a comment and then after was asked about Mannys next opponent he went they're looking at signing the Marquez fight for the middle of may lol
Don't have a clue mate, i'd say Alvarez most likely, dont matter who he fights though it's just another win to add to the legends record. There is only one boxer out there in my opinion that could trouble mayweather at the moment and that's Andre Ward
This, and the last time Pacquaio pulled out when Mayweather asked for a drugs test, Mayweather had agreed to all of Pacquaios demands at that time
Because he was concernd that Pacquaio was taking performance enhancing drugs and the test would have shown if Pacquaio had taken any drugs to improve his performance. He didnt have to go at all your just making excuses as usual, the fact that he was so reluctant to take the test suggests he was or is hiding something, you can try and defend him all you like but the facts are clear he turned away from the fight before and most likely will turn away from this chance as well.
First time ever Floyd asked for that. Pacquiao must have looked really good, infact too good for Floyd. Marquez didn't ask for any test, he just got in there and boxed. March 13th was the date set, it was in January when Pacquiao said enough is enough after 40 odd days of negotiations. It take around 3 months to promote a fight, how long should Pacquiao have waited for Floyd to sit there and do nothing?
I love how you blindly defend Pacqauio no matter what -Marquez was cheated again and its up to him whether he asks or not, Cotto also want to see Pacquaio take some sort of test -you blame Floyd who agreed to everything Pacquaio's demands and asked for one thing which was the blood test, it was Pacquaio who sat there and did nothing, he constantly came up with a range of excuses while Mayweather waited for his response Paint any picture you want about the situation but the truth was all clear to see and many boxing experts including the likes of Teddy Atlas said Pacqauio should have taken the test if he had nothing to hide, his excuse of being weakened was ridiculous considering Mayweather was also going to be taking the test.
This is not true. But lets not go too far down this road in thread. This is about Mayweather's probable opponent for his next bout, the former feathweight champion Robert Guerrero, is that a fight you want to see?
It is true and you and everyone else knows it, but back on topic no I want to see someone like Cotto or possibly Martinez if he wasn’t fighting Maklin fight Mayweather. Cotto is looking back to his old self and Martinez may be big but he looked very beatable against Barker so I could Mayweather beating him, cotto on the other hand would be far more difficult in my opinion but would still lose to Mayweather simply because he does not have a good defence. I heard a rumour that Cotto may be fighting Alaverz next which would obviously take both of them out of the equation.
I think Cotto and Martinez would be good picks, Martinez vs Maclkin only signed up this week, I wonder why Floyd let that one slip. Cotto is a free agent now, and has no fight signed, but I think Floyd is unlikely to take on Miguel. Last time they were meant to fight, Floyd claimed he could not fight Cotto because he lived in Puerto Rico. A fight against Guerrero would be appallingly bad. He is a former featherweight, has only fought as high as lightweight 4 times, I think, and has been receiving physio for months for a severe arm injury, and would have been out of the ring for over a year for when the fight comes around. We will find out tomorrow.
