“Maynor just needs a break. He’s fine but I think he needs some time away from it,” said the City boss, who favoured Liam Rosenior on the left of his defence.

“He had a bad injury last summer and has had a lot to contend with this season.

“I gave him a few days and the weekend off because I felt that was the right way forward.

“He’ll be fine I’m sure. We all go through it from time to time.

“He’s having one of those tough times at the moment but he’ll be okay. The rest will do him the world of good.”

I think it was clear in the last few games he played that his head's not right. Perhaps partly a crisis of confidence in his game and partly other factors.

I think I remember seeing at some point that his son's ill back in Honduras? No matter how much he tries that's bound to play on his mind and mean he can't perform to his full level.

He started the season pretty well - it's a proper cliché but he could be like a new signing if he gets his head right over the summer.

I don't think they said why he flew home but it was "compassionate leave" as I recall so could well be something like that.

He's not ****, he's just having a dip in form... he'll be reet.

His son was rushed into hospital after nearly drowning in a swimming pool I think.

I might have just made that up but I'm sure it was something like that happened earlier in the season.

I believe he was found at the bottom of a swimming pool at Figgy's parents house and is lucky to be alive.

I'm not sure if his family are actually living in Honduras and that's the problem.

****ing hell, I didn't know that.

No wonder he's a bit distracted.

In another article in HDM the mind games have started. Paul Merson saying City players will be worried as they are without their 2 best strikers. Of course he thinks it is a foregone conclusion that Arsenel will win.

Of course the dopey twat seems to have forgotten we were without our two best strikers in the previous games as well - perhaps he forgot we scored five goals in the semi final.

Anyway we should be used to such denigration by now. Lawro will have it down as 10-0 to Arsenal I should imagine. Tosser.

We are without our two best strikers. Arsenal are clearly favourites to win. Doesn't mean they will, but everyone will expect them to.

Has had some off field issues a while back. But yes he looked like he needed a break and yet another great piece of man management by Steve Bruce.

Those who have slagged him off this season need a kick. When right Figgy is a class left back. Hope that Joe Dudgeon can give him competition next season mind.

Thank heaven that we have a Liam Rosenoir in the squad. Left or right the lad is very good full stop.
