This confirms our worst fears. Will Malky get a loanee in as a replacement?

Why get a replacement? Malky'll play Helguson up front every game till he drops.

Don't want to start another Heidi argument (discussion?) again, but we need an option to a blunt instrument now and again.

Is there a need for a replacement? With HH, Velikoja (spelling) Rudy, Bellers in the team and Nicky hasn't scored yet and we're still top of the league.

Maynard was one of the last signings we'd made and I was happy with the squad before his arrival. He would have been a big benefit to the squad, but as he'd only played 3 games and he hadn't scored, we can hardly say we're missing him. A big blow, but of less impact than if he'd played 20 games and scored 10 goals, or would we have been happy with the 10 goals. I don't know. I suppose we're not used to spending £2M +, so the fact we'd spent the money and got next to nothing for it is a blow.

Being practical about it, it's happened and we can't change that. I think MM should stay with what he's got until the new year and decide what we need at that point. I think we'll be more in need of a full back than a striker.

I just hope Maynard comes back without long standing problems and I'd be happy if the next game he plays for us is in the Premiership!

We have enough replacements at the moment unless we get another long term injury.
So far Velinkonja, Kim, Rudy, Conway and Mason have had little or no game time. This is a very expensively assembled squad and they will all have their part to play before the season is out.

Also no one has mentioned Smith. I think the team is missing him more since he has been injured than they missed Maynard, because he works so hard for the team.
Does anyone know if he's fit for the game at Nottingham Forest?

Bellamy is having a fitness test and Harris is still in rehab (besides Maynard obviously). Other than that a clean bill of health across the board is reported.

Both Smith and Mutch have been training normally this week.

While Maynard hasn't scored he has at least 2 assists being fouled for both the pen and free kick v. Leeds.

Just hope he comes back fully fit whenever. I agree we have enough front players to work with for now and Malky will need to review come the January window. Anyway, we score more goals from midfield and defence than we do from strikers!!!!

Will certainly need full back cover come the New Year. McNuggs always loses game time through injury second half of the season and while Connolly can cover that we will be in the soft and smellies if Taylor gets a knock as well. Few bookings and no reds in defence as yet but that could easily change.
