Let's think about it there is no way Hulk and Hazard would agree personal terms with us if they weren't told who the manager is going to be. For all they may have known it could have been Rosie and Jim. I just don't think Hazard would have agreed personal terms without knowing who the manager was or being given reassurances. If Guardiola was coming in something would have been leaked by now. The club want a manager before pre-season tour and I'd be amazed if they haven't made an appointment before the Euro's. FFP is another thing, can we really take a risk on Guardiola and be paying him £15m a year on top of signing those two marquee players? Right now RDM is the cheaper and IMO better option. The club is soon running out of managers to appoint, we've been through the best coaches in the world, it won't be long before the likes of Carlo and Ranieri are being asked back for 2nd spells Nothing surprises me with this club but even I would be amazed if Hazard and Hulk are signed on the reported contracts they have been offered with a marquee manager on top. If we get Hulk than it's almost certain Sturridge is off which is fine as we can get £20m for him easy and that's another player off the wage bill, but as he's English the club may keep him. Let's face it that's the only reason we haven't got shot of Turnbull yet. Malouda would be gone too Judging by his re-tweet on Twitter today he could be off. Some idiot Chelsea "fan" basically told him to leave. Looks as though he might be trying to engineer a move away from the club (let's hope)
With the signings of Marin and Hazard I can't see any room for Malouda. Has been a good acquisition to the club but I feel his time at Chelsea has come to an end. A return to France would be a very likely destination or maybe a lucrative deal with some obscure Middle Eastern club with tonnes of money.
malouda is a USELESS lazy twat who had a couple of really good games under Guus and rode on the shirt-tails of a very good squad when we did the double!
Let's not be too harsh. Malouda was absolutely the best winger in the league second half of the double season. He has served us well but time to move on.
I think the FFP boat has sailed (if Hazard and Hulk complete their signings). Chelsea obviously believe FIFA are bluffing, or are pretty sure they have a work around that will mean they are immune.
I think you're forgetting the substantial amount of money we won last season as well as getting Kalou, Drogs and Bosingwa off the wage bill.
What are you on about? We've moved Anelka, Drogba, Kalou and Bosingwa off the wage bill. That's £22m shifted on "free transfers alone". Weve made at least £40m from this years CL alone and stand to make more. A ticket price increase means our revenue will be higher. There's going to be more exits as well probably Malouda and possibly Meireles, Essien and Ferreira. And In the near future JT and Lamps will be gone too which means our highest earners are off the wage bill. Torres will also be sold next summer. As long as we can show we are reducing our losses UEFA won't care, what they want to see is clubs showing they are try to break even and spend within their means. I've said it once and I'll say it again FFP is bad for clubs like Spurs and actually beneficial to clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and United We HAVE money to spend without compromising FFP
And how much will Hulk cost, I have read some pretty eye-watering amounts. Hazard is said to be £32m. The last financial report I can find is that Chelsea lost £69m, down from £72m the previous year so clearly you have huge funds to pay for top players. Since then you have bought Torres (£50m) and I am sure you will be replacing some of the players leaving - you are particularly light at right back without Bosingwa. That is without the pay rises that will come as a result of winning the CL. If you think that lot adds up to compliance, I suggest you are no accountant!
HD the last financial loss was including Torres and Luiz' fees, we haven't actually done as badly as you think. Our CL winnings will pay for both Hulk and Hazard whilst the players coming off the wage bill will provide their wages.
This kinda bullshit is whats wrong with football. A bunch of fans sitting on a board discussing club accounts. Take a look at yourselves for crying out loud. Why is everyone so bothered about how much player A is on, and how much player B will cost etc etc It drives me round the bend! Do you think this happened in the 70's? When football was about what happened on the pitch and not a f ucking balance sheet. I just want to add, that the clubs with the most money have historically always been the most successful. Its just that we as a nation were not so money obsessed in those days. FFP is a terrible idea, as all it will do is keep the rich clubs rich and the poor clubs poor. No one has a chance in hell of breaking the 3 way monopoly of Manchester x 2 and Chelsea (who have won all of the last 8 PL titles between them.) Arsenal are the only ones who may have have a glimmer, but they refuse to spend money so.....
Because clubs like yours and Man City distort the market and diminish the game we all love. Surely you can see why it is relevant?
The numbers I used were up to the end of July 2009 - June 2010. So yourself. I couldn't find any reference to last years numbers. http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~2281149,00.html
Mate if you think we were the first club to "distort" the market then you are wrong. Why do you think Liverpool dominated World football for 15 years in the 70's and 80's? One word....Littlewoods Manchester United in the 90's = PLC Whores and child sweat shop labour No one is squeaky clean. Besides, we were still winning more trophies than Spurs even before Roman came along....since the start of the PL and before Roman, so 1993-2003, Chelsea won 2 FA Cups, 1 League Cup, 1 Cup winners cup, 1 European Super Cup and 1 community Shield. Spurs = 1 League cup. ( I think, in 99 right? Correct me if im wrong).
Look,if you're going to try and beat us with the financial stick at least do a modicum of research so that you don't look like a complete bell end. The loss was almost entirely down to write downs of players value. That isn't actual cash out of RA's pocket but purely paper adjusting of the figures. In terms of FFP we were actually on the plus side by a couple of million. Now if you're not bright enough to understand these things can i suggest you don't use them because god you're a bore.
Did I say you were the first? I just think the scale and speed of the spending is something different to what had gone on in the past. To think someone like Hazard is worth (apparently) £32m to buy and wages of £170k pw is shocking, given he is untested in a top league. Also, your ability to unsettle players (Modric for example) is off the scale. Players wanted to go to Liverpool and Man Utd for the prestige and maybe a 10% increase in salary, not to double/triple their wages.
Mate if you think that the difference in salaries between Liverpool players and midtable teams in the 80's was around 10% then you are off your trolley. I read somewhere that Liverpools wages in 88 were about 300% higher compared to their FA cup final opponents Wimbledon. Try 30-40% higher. I agree that it has gotten out of hand, but it was heading this way long before RA came along.
