Skybet suspended betting on adams joining but pinch of salt job as they done the same with jones last week. Oxlaide-Chamberlain is going to arsenal unless they back out of the deal. Not sure on Clichy but i don't rate him, tho £5m rumours is ok and he's better than what we have. Wickham deal is done and should be announced after the u21 tournament. Downing could be a good buy, i think he's a good player
I'd take Clichy, Wickham and Oxlaide-Chamberlain - but no more than 20m for the three of them. I wish we'd target a good winger soon!
I thought the Oxlaide-Chamberlain is on shaky ground as Arsenal don't want to put in a 40% sell on fee which is understandable
Rumours from a guy on twitter Paul Thompson who claims to be ITK thinks the Mata deal is at an advanced stage. I'd love KK and DC to pull that 1 off! He was a class act yesterday!
The amount of money Southampton want for him is a lot aswell, 12m for an unproven winger that's only played ~40 matches is very steep.
Wickham and Oxlaide-Chamberlain are for the future, I like Adam, but don't think we need him. Clichy for £5 is common sense. Downing, I just don't know, yes he's English, yes the Villa fans value him more than Young, but I don't think he has that much pace, he is an option if we get him cheap enough, but I think we need to be looking overseas for a unknown out and out winger or two. Saying that I'd love to get Maluda ;-)
Agreed, that would be £10m up front and then potentially another £15m Potentially £25m for a player who wasn't worth £10m when you signed him due to the premium being payed on potential. If I were wenger i'd laugh southampton off and go elsewhere. people said we were insulting in january over our transfer dealings but this seems to be just as bad, when does his contract expire?
I think we have an advantage on Arsenal when it comes to Alex Oxlade Chamberlain as it seems Paul Jewell wants Jonjo Shelvey on a years loan.Now if we can negotiate a deal that suggests that as part of the deal,Shelvey joins Ipswich for a £2 million loan deal and we pay them £10 million in cash,then both parties would be happy.
I don't know why clubs don't just promise players a large contract if they wait until their deals run out
Not overly excited about any of these names. I'd take Wickham and probably Clichy if it's for £5m. Really want Mata in now though! I'd also almost take Albrighton ahead of Downing Still don't rate Adam too highly and really don't think we need ANOTHER midfielder!
I think you will get Wickham, Downing, Adam and Clichy this week for around £35m the lot For me all are needed, Wickham - Tall strong and young, decent finsher. One for the future but will cost around £10m Downing - Decent and will add balance, you need a true left winger, cost around £12 Clichy - You need a left back, and personally I think he is decent and better then Enrique and half the price, about £5m Adam - Despite what you all say you do need more depth in middle, you only have Gerrard and Lucas who are proven. Spearing is developing well, Meireles and Henderson can play there but are better suited out wide. £8m Mata would be a great signing, 50/50 for me if you guys get him I also expect Aquilani, Poulson, Ngog, Joncavic, Konchesky and Cole all to be gone in the next couple of weeks
Tbh, Chamberlain is a bit overrated. I saw him against Colchester and he scored and looked pretty tricky, but he looked like any other tricky winger that most good teams have in league 1. I can see why people would be interested in him, but he is not as good as people make him out to be.
