Looked reasonable the first couple of games, looked horrific the last couple. All I have to say about him.

Not defending him but the defensive midfielders Schneiderlin and Davis have to take some of the blame for our leakiness.

Got to give him more time. We must have scouted him enough to see that he is a good CB.

Have to also consider what the effect is of being in a struggling defence and being played out of position in some games. Has he had a chance to settle in properly. Not going to blame him for everything that is going on.

He's Japanese so that automatically negates any lack of quality or ability.

Our whole defence is ****, apart from Clyne. You can't really single him out, none of our Cb's are good enough.

Richardson is good, so we're solid at right back.

I agree he's a good player, but he's far to injury prone and the wrong side of 30.

    Agree 100%

It frustrates me that no-one points the finger at our midfielders. They are as guilty as the defenders. I would like to see Cork replace Schneiderlin.

He's done as well, if not better, than Fonte (when played at centre-back) for my money.

That's not to say brilliantly of course!

I'm not so sure - when it comes to CBs, I had my doubts about a Japanese player in this position. I was thinking someone Scandinavian, German, Eastern European, or even British. Brute strength, height, tactical fouling, and intimidation don't necessarily spring to mind when I think Japanese. Think more of speed and guile on the wing, and impeccable manners.

I was a disappointed with how it sound like he played as I had high hopes. But then, I didn't see the game so can't judge. Also writing off the games he played out of position.

Still seems like he is our best CB and if we can bring in another it might be enough. I'm still reasonably optimistic that once he gets a string of games and adjusts he will be a slightly-below average/average premier league defender. So maybe not as exciting as Ramirez, but someone who might help us out a lot this season and still prove useful in the future.
