Player of the season. Will hopefully inject a bit of positvity in the thoughts of many, including me. Who has been your POTY and should get the award at the end of the season? I have included the names of those I would say most people would vote for. If your choice isnt there vote other and post it. Then we can crown the Not 606 QPR player of the year. For me its Clint Hill. Thought he would struggle badly with his lack of pace, but he has been superb, and to do that after wrongly being put out on loan makes it even more superb. Well done that man. Although Mackie would be a very very close second. His effort and workrate are nothing short of brilliant.
Faurlin The fact he's missed most of the season has highlighted how crap Barton is. I think he's still top of the table for most tackles made this season too for the entire premiership
What? 8 games to go? Who'd have thought we'd have beaten Liverpool on Wednesday after being 2 0 down?!!!! Anything can happen still!!!!!
Derry and Hill surely haven't played enough to warrant POTS, same might go for Faurlin/Helguson too, that's why I say Luke Young.
Up to the Liverpool game; Derry has made 21 (plus 2 as sub) Hill has made 14 (plus 3 as sub) Young has made 24 Hill has played half the games, but has done more for the cause than Barton and SWP combined. And more. Our top appearance maker is Kenny with 25.
Has Derry played that much?! Didn't realise, but Derry has been pretty bad in the season, his work rate is great, but Wednesday was his only truly very good game IMO Young has been solid the whole season
Must say 21 did surprise me aswell. A few others that did the same; Helguson - 14 plus 4 as sub. Thought he has played more. Taarabt - 17 plus 3 as sub. More than I thought seeing he wasnt in the side for a long time. Wright-Phillips - 25. Far too much.
For me, Young has been average. Has been at fault for far too many of our goals and has been skinned alot. Even in the Liverpool game he was constantly out of position and Onuoha had to come across to clear up the mess.
As a neutral I would have said Faurlin. But for a man of limited natural ability I have been impressed by Jamie Mackie's attitude. Even when you have looked poor for me he has stood out head and shoulders above the rest.
There should have been a "nobody" category. Literally nobody deserves to be awarded with the title of being our best player this season. Performance of the season would be more suitable because I can't remember anyone having more than 2 good games in a row.
Seems to be an even contest really. Not much in it at all. thinking back, the one player who has brought so much to the side, and has given me the most hope is Mackie. So perhaps I will reconsider to vote for him. Has come up with the goods just when we most needed it.
