I was at this game. Had a broken ankle, sustained in a 5-a-side game a week before. Had a massive plaster cast on, was told to keep off my feet for 2 weeks. Bollocks!! No way I was missing this. Borrowed my Grandad`s walking stick and hobbled into the Gallowgate to witness the start of something special. Ended up in casualty again, having a new cast put on cos the old one was dropping to bits cos i had been jumping round so much! We need to harness that feeling again!! We can make such a difference to this team if we get behind them. No whinging, no boos, no negativity; there is no place for any of that now. Let`s get behind this team, 100%, for the rest of the season, no matter what. No more headlines of," the crowd were on their backs from the off". Everyone do their bit, You never know, we might just do this you know!!
I was running the Red Lion in Market Bosworth, Leicestershire at this time, we put a tv on in the bar for this match and I had a bet with 9 Leicester fans that we would win, I remember them all coming up to the bar at half time and paying up shame it was only a pound each, I lived and worked for over 7 years in Leicestershire and had a great time there.
I watched it on central TV or something, ah yes 5-0 up and wondering whether it would be Cole or Kelly who got the hat-trick first....great sign off for Ned. The video above appears to be from the 92/93 promotion season home video judging by the commentary at the start, but rather dissappointingly they've removed Little Angels's Too Much Too Young which was the soundtrack to that bit on the video and fitted in with the game rather well.
