I'd just like to highlight this from the article, because unfortunately it is key: "Interestingly, had Norwich allowed Lambert to speak to Villa – like Dave Whelan did with Martinez and Liverpool – they might have stood a better chance of keeping him, believes the Sunday Mirror’s David Walker. “They’ve played it completely wrong. If you have an open dialogue from your chairman to your outstanding young manager you have reasons why Paul Lambert might still be the Norwich manager.”" Unfortunately this is spot on- obviously Lambert wanted to, at the very least, hear what Villa have to offer. If there is any truth in the stories about a dispute, I imagine it will be because the Norwich board rebuffed Villa early on without Lambert's consent. If they hadn't, he could have listened to Villa and decided against it and not been forced into handing in his resignation.
Well... *ahem* I TOLD you budgerigars so - FACT. I have been proved right, be afraid little budgies, be very affraid - the worm has turned and you lot are going down!!
Oh shut up Mike. You've been saying that for years! I bet your loving it you sad case, at least he got us to the prem, where did he leave you?
Are you now going to go to the Villa board and start telling them your Paul Lambert doomsday forecast, or are we still in for yet more of your insights? You may start to look alittle dated and out of place if you do wish to continue. But then I'm sure we could still make you appear relevent - We'll get Chris Hughton, and then steal John Ward from Colchester to be his assistant. Would be just like old times.
Good to have you back Mike. We can always rely on you to cheer us up in 'our hour of need'. With McNally at the helm (apart from the way he has handled Lambert in recent days), I'm very confident that we won't be playing each other in the league any time soon. FACT!!!
Mike thanks for that FACT means we are safe for another year We will not follow your pathetic cries of injustice for years, we say thanks Mr Lambert you have done well for us and we have really enjoyed the last three years, all the best for the future but hopefully we stuff your Villa twice next year just to show you how well you built this team:
Of course Iâm absolutely f***ing loving you budgerigars finally getting a long overdue taste of your own medicine. My predictions have been vindicated. You wonât be Premiership without the Midas touch of Lambert magically turning your League One players into a Premiership side, looks like Derby are going to get rid of that unwanted record.
Actually budgies I reckon Paul Lambert will do a terrific job at Aston Villa and wish him every future success in his management career. You lot on the other hand don’t get it, without Lambert’s touch the clock has hit midnight and your players will revert back to League One standard. You are going to be the whipping boys of the Premier League next season and then the Championship the year after.
Mike you are just coming across as a very bitter and twisted man. I will love it if we stay up next year....................then you can do one again until the next manager leaves, or does it all end with Lambert leaving us?
Hardly took a genius to see that one day he would leave did it. So easy to keep saying year after year that he will drop us for another club, it was always going to happen eventually
I did enjoy reading the bit that suggested if PL was to leave Villa for a bigger club then that would mean they WOULD have won a trophy and be playing in Europe! Perhaps he forgot about the other potential scenario whereby Villa stay as they are and even West Brom would become a more viable option to push on to greater things
All we've got out of it is premier league status, the best players we've ever had, a meteoric rise through the league and tens of millions of pounds. We're well gutted.
True that Beef, I'd have much rather spent the last three years pissing about in League One mid-table obscurity with Ian Henderson up front and getting turned over by the likes of Walsall, Yeovil and Hartlepool. We must be right mugs
Mike must be getting well excited about next season though - at leats he's got a couple of "big" clubs for the Tescoes to play next season with Pompey and Coventry in League One - the thought of going to a "big" town with "big" buildings and lots of "big" things to see must be getting dear old Mikey in a frenzy. And they'll bring a few fans with them too so The Community Service Stadium may get attendnaces of 3500 next season - cor blimey !
