BRISTOL CITY: Rookie goalkeeper Max O'Leary set to face West Brom in FA Cup replay a_stockhausen please log in to view this image Max O'Leary FA Cup ROOKIE Bristol City goalkeeper Max O'Leary is likely to be plunged back in at the proverbial deep end in tomorrow night's televised FA Cup third round replay against Premier League West Bromwich Albion. New loan signing Richard O'Donnell is not eligible to play in the tie, which is being screened live by BT Sport, while first-choice custodian Frank Fielding is still trouble by an intercostal muscle injury. All of which means 19-year-old O'Leary, who made his senior debut as a half-time replacement for the injured Fielding at The Hawthorns earlier this month, will be called upon to make his home debut in front of an anticipated full-house crowd at Ashton Gate. Promoted to the substitutes' bench by former manager Steve Cotterill following Ben Hamer's return to parent club Leicester City in November, O'Leary has yet to make a single Football League appearance. But he appeared to cope with a pressure-cooker atmosphere at West Brom 10 days ago and the interim management team of John Pemberton and Wade Elliott are prepared to place their trust in him against top-flight opposition. Should Fielding not be fit to resume his duties between the posts, Pemberton will consider promoting Academy product Jojo Woolacott to the bench to provide cover for O'Leary. Signed on loan until the end of the season, O'Donnell made his Robins debut in last week's 2-1 home defeat to Preston and then kept a clean sheet against Championship leaders Boro. He is Cup-tied after appearing for parent club Wigan Athletic in a 4-0 first round loss at Bury on November 7. Meanwhile, midfield schemer Luke Freeman missed Saturday's 1-0 win over Middlesbrough with a dead leg and will undergo a late fitness check. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/BRISTOL-CITY-Rookie-goalkeeper-Max-O-Leary-set/story-28547589-detail/story.html
Good luck Max if you do play, nice to have a 4th representative from the academy playing in the 1st team.
wont be a bad thing if we lose by the odd goal we need to focus on staying up, however £72k pays some of the months wages, so win would be fine.
