I'd prefer a permanent signing in this position but it would be better than nothing.....

By the way... anyone seen Chucky??

Just over 72 hours until the wonderful January transfer window opens and there are reports today that Newcastle could bring in Mauro Zarate on loan.

The West Ham striker’s last appearance was a month ago in the win over West Brom and has only started five Premier League games this season, scoring two goals.

Zarate didn’t even make the bench on Boxing Day in the Hammers’ defeat at Chelsea and The Mirror claim that both Newcastle and Sunderland are interested in taking the forward until the end of the season.

Obviously we are going to be deluged with links to players, but it is hard to see just which credible strikers Mike Ashley would be prepared to pay for and on the other side of the coin, which credible forwards would be prepared to join the St. James’ Park circus.

Mauro Zarate isn’t a prolific striker and has only scored 33 goals in seven seasons outside his native Argentina.

The striker arrived at West Ham from Jonas Gutierrez’ old club Velez Sarsfield where he’d ended up for a second spell after playing at Birmingham, Lazio and Inter Milan.

It would be ironic if Newcastle did take on the 27 year old from West Ham, considering in the summer we were linked with the likes of Kouyate, Sakho and Valencia who have all gone on to be successes this season in East London.

With Riviere showing nothing and Papiss Cisse injury prone according to Alan Pardew and shortly off to Africa for up to six weeks – the situation is dire up front.

I don’t think I need to remind you that we have already got an Argentinian striker on loan in Facundo Ferreyra…

Not exactly the striker we need! Well not with Pardew as manager anyway!

If he's not good enough for Wet Sham then he's not good enough for us.

West Ham very strong up front with players like Sakho, Valencia and Carroll in good form. Always looked a good player at West Ham, surprised he hasn't played more.

Word is that Allardyce won't play him because one of the owners signed him.

Zarate has agreed a loan move to QPR <ok>
