A bit out of the blue, it was doom and gloom last week... http://www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk/story-16943703-detail/story.html?
Or the next Saturday match?? I've had injections in my heel, and was bloody awful, can't imagine how crappy ones in the tendon he's struggling with would be.
I would hope that Simmo is not being replaced that easily, as the lad has done us proud the way he has performed, Matty as a sub maybe.
Like you say it would be good to get him back because for any team to do well you need not only a good team but a good squad
Could Fryatt play the same role as Simpson? Because Simpson is basically up on his own and we know how Fryatt struggle last season. IMO He'll do alot better then last season Because the support from wide is different class and then you also have Koren and Quinn in the middle.
i wouldn't bother playing him for a while...he usually takes a while to get into form and everything is going so well
I suspect he'll have to settle for a place on the bench when he does return, though at least it significantly improves our bench.
Matty will be on the bench. Jay Simpson is playing at a level now that is way above Matty Fryatt, whether he can continue at this level is another matter. I hope he does, but if he doesnt then Matty gets back in.
I agree with this. I thought it was only me who'd noticed, but Simpson at the moment is playing better than any striker we've had since the Deano and Campbell days and there's nothing to suggest it's just temporary. He's looked good whenever he's had a chance, he did well in the minimal game time he got last season and he had a great pre-season, it seems he only didn't play last season because he fell out with Barmby over the system. Everything I've seen of him in the past year suggests he's just a cut above the other strikers we have in terms of quality, and that's what we need.
I must admit, Simpson was simply excellent against Portsmouth away last season, best player on the park by a mile and deserved a proper chance after that.
Simpson has surprised a lot of us, its great to see him playing the way he is at the minute! The most surprising part of his game for me is how good he is at holding up the ball/keeping defenders away from the ball
I think it will be a couple of months before he is up to speed, unless he's been given an injection of pace.
Agreed completely and the reason for that is his touch, like Aluko he isn't strong but you arent getting the ball off him with his back to goal and he's good at turning with it too. This is what's good about our team right now, all over the pitch everyone is capable on the ball and no one loses it easily. I never used to be an Oli fan and I've always liked having one hardman in midfield but right now I can't see the point in it and I'd rather have Oli because if we just keep the ball we don't need someone to win it back all the time and that's exactly what we're doing now. This is the big advantage of having Simpson over Fryatt, and Oli over Evans.
I can see Simpson scoring between 15 and 20 goals this season ! If he gets the chance that is ! He won't get dropped playing the way he has been.
I think that having Matty back can only be good for Simpson, that might push him on even further with an out and out striker right behind him.
