I really hope Matty signs a new contract and stays with us. He proved today that he is a Premier League striker and I would love to see him leading our Europa League challenge.
I bet he can't cos he ran himself ragged. A star. He said he was ' puffing' after Man U and he didn't even play the full game. You could see him hobbling through the cramp towards the end.
He was absolutely ****ing outstanding for an hour today. After that, like others, he simply couldn't move anymore.
Great performance in first half but ran out of gas early in 2H and should have been subbed for Koren or Boyd . Definitely deserves a new contract.
It was a real shame Rosie had to go off, as Sagbo/Boyd for Fryatt was the obvious change Brucey would presumably like to have made. But I think he was wise to keep one substitution in hand in case of extra-time woes (better to keep a tired Fryatt on than to be left with 10 men).
A really good lad and he always does himself great credit. We wondered if he might be replaced by Sagbo for the last 30 minutes but enforced changes put the tin hat on that. It was a fabulous day and I'm really glad that you made it over for such a fantastic experience. See you for that beer in Saltspring in September!
Matty is clever with the ball, but he lacks pace. I'm not sure whether he'll stay though. He know's he'll be behind the pecking order of Long and Jelly again next season and he knows he could easily get 20-25 goals in the championship if he stays fully fit.
Matty is guaranteed games next year, we have a packed schedule for a start, and all it takes is one injury to Jelavic or Long and he becomes first choice. I don't think there's much doubt he'll sign a one year extension, we've just given his career an FA cup final and we're about to stick a European competition on it as well.
There may be a pecking order based on money but Jelavic needs to improve. It's one thing having more pace but if you don't do much with it then it hardly matters.
He did yesterday what many people (not me) were questioning about him - he ran a Premier League, and a good one at that - ragged for 120 minutes and beat them a lot more times than not. If Mr Probert hadn't have given a free kick against him for touching Koscielny (or however you spell his name), and we'd have been 3-1; that was game, set and match.
agree with the second part of that, sure he would of scored a one on one with their keeper. The lino was right there and never flagged a free kick, the ref gave who was chasing the play gave it.
