What is going on with these two. Engval 2.5 Million and not playing. Matthews wages must be high and not playing or earning his wages. Getting beyond a joke, especially when Little is not good enough.
He is pissed off with Matthews.. http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/lee-jo...dam-matthews/story-29919777-detail/story.html
Send him back not fit for purpose. Regards Engval this rubbish about not being ready, why the hell spend that sort of money.Any other club he would have been put straight into the mix. There is a very true saying,if you are good enough it will shine through. One up top is not working LJ have you not realised that after 1 win in 8. Time to change it.
You've got to bear in mind we were/are in a bit of a desperate situation regarding strikers. Without him we'd only have Wilbs and Tammy (which admittedly is all we're using anyway), so it might have pressured us into buying the player even though we didn't necessarily want him. Having said that, I'd like to think he's a punt who is very much for the future, and the lack of game time for him has been purely down to fitness. I'd be highly surprised if it was down to attitude or anything a la Adam Matthews. If Matthews doesn't want to put the effort in to be a professional footballer then I'm more than happy for LJ to leave him out, even if it means the team is slightly weaker. Additional game time for the likes of Taylor Moore will benefit us in the long run anyways. Of all of our signings I really think Moore could be the big success.
Very true Taylor Moore looks and is quality. On what i saw of Engval in the one game he got a go,he looked very good.Give the lad game time to sink or swim. If he is good enough it will show. Matthews seems another dud, send him back.
It's a shame about Matthews, but the sad fact is that no matter how good you are, if you can't get fit, you're not of any use to anybody. Intriguing quotes from LJ regarding him, so perhaps there's something else going on, besides from simple bad luck with injuries. I don't think Little should be made a scapegoat, but, without Matthews, it does make right-back a bit of a problem position for us. Regarding Engvall, I do see your point, though you need to propose who misses out if he gets the nod. I think LJ is reticent to play with two strikers from the off, as you either lose a midfielder and struggle to control the central area, or you go to 3 at the back, which leaves you that much more exposed, particularly at this level (as we saw under SC). Sticking with the same approach if it's not working isn't much of a solution either of course. I'm certainly still a million miles from calling for his head, but it's in moments like these that LJ needs to earn his salary and I hope he finds an answer. If we can't find a way to improve things beyond simply waiting for the next transfer window, then it'll likely be too late to challenge for a play-off spot, which is becoming more unlikely by the week.
Getting concerning now. It reminds me of Cotterill, does not see the issues, also seems stubborn regards formation change. For me he has to start changing his formation,or the slippery slope will beckon.
Junior's comments about Matthews are naive to say the least. Why does he need to go public with his criticism. He's a highly paid manager - deal with it. Or is it from his father's book of Management - Blame anyone but yourself.
look at the wider picture .. if you have 2 strikers the opposing team has to compensate for that, so the danger level is lessened ...
I don't think it's stubbornness from LJ though. It's the fact that our squad doesn't really allow much room for changing the system, and it was even worse for Cotts with such a small squad. As alluded to above, going 3 at the back in this league isn't really going to work for us. We've built a squad that theoretically should be able to rotate well position-wise, we have a load of players who are 'utility' players, but that leaves us short in certain positions so it's very difficult to shake it up. I mean, how many out and out wingers do we have? O'Dowda, Paterson... aaaand that's about it. Freeman, Bryan and Tomlin can play on the wings, but it's not necessarily their best position. That makes your team very limited instantly.
