    Bid accepted by QPR.

    Ok back up I suppose.

Bit worrying he cant get in a QPR team who just got massacred by one of the relegation favourites.

Still Mark Hughes is their manager.

    Well spotted Hilts.

Has had good experience with QPR - 116 games (plus 6 at Reading last year) - so knows the score in our league. Came through the ranks at Arsenal. I'm sure Malky has done hsi homework and we will have a young (25) useful defender to cover Huds and Turner.

Still need that full back and maybe another winger/striker though.

General view on the QPR board is he is a good Championship player who helped them win 2 promotions. They say he had a great partnership with Gorks in their promotion year 2010/11. May lack a bit of confidence. Most wish him well with us.

Over to Malky to build him up.

    QPR fan in peace.
Matt Connolly is a good player and came from Arsenal set up. He will be a very good player for you and will make the first team. On his day he is a 'top notch' player. Only problem with him is that he suffers from confidence problems, saying that he probably got them from being at QPR? He did a grand job at Reading last season and i only heard good reports about him. Verdict is he will be a good player for you. Only reason he doesn't fit into the QPR set up is because MH believes in others, so that answers this...
I also hear that you are after Tommy Smith?
Another good player who would fit into your team without any fuss. Sorry to see him go but once again our manager believes in others.

Anyway hope that helps and sort out those 'red' shirts. <ok>

Cheers Ellers, that confirms most of what I read on your site.

Thankfully he wasn't part of your team last Saturday so no further undermining of confidence.

Anything happened with Bothroyd? Also not involved Saturday. Not that we particularly want him back, just interested about how he must feel being about no. 6 in your striker pecking order. I read somewhere that he was talking to his and our old boss Dave Jones at Sheffield Wednesday but heard no more on that.

Not sure about Tommy Smith but if Jamie Mackie fancies coming down the M4 he would be very welcome. <ok>

It is odd watching the Bluebirds playing in red at home, but its not bad and and we will get used to it. For £100m you can get used to most things in time. <whistle>

Watched your game on Friday night and missed the goal because of Mrs Ellers turned the station over when i went out of the room and i could not rewind. Must say i don't like the Red but for £100M i guess you can get used to it.

Bothroyd is another player like Luke Young who has vanished. You can have Bothroyd back as he will not feature for us. I still remember that goal he scored in the 2-2 draw at your place and only wished he had continued like that at QPR.

As for mackie? I doubt you will get him but if the rumours are true that newer players are coming in, then he will lose his place. Doesn't have the skill of most players but gives 100%, that's why he gets in the team. Shame the rest of them didn't do that on Saturday against 'Swancerlona' (who by the way are the biggest time wasters in the history of football).

As i said Connolly will be good for Cardiff. <ok>

I think that goal showed what Betty is capable of. Trouble is after he got his one England cap he didn't perform to that level much afterwards. I couldn't see his approach to the game gelling too well with Malky whereas Dave Jones got the best out of him, up to a point at Cardiff, by watching out for him and being his best mate. I guess he didn't get that with Colin and latterly Sparkey at your place.

Betty is his own worst enemy but if he went back to DJ at Sheffield he could do well again in the Championship.

Now we probably need another full back and, if my memory serves me correctly, Young can play either side. If he wasn't greedy with his wage requirements he could be useful for us.

Thanks for your input Ellers. I had Connely on FM a couple of years ago, seemed decent for a computer game...

BBC & WoL confirm Connolly has signed - fee undisclosed bought thought to be around £500k. Nothing on City's site as I type this.

Both sources also report we are in talks about Tommy Smith.

Great deal for you guys. Will be shocked if he is not starting and impressing before long. Best as a CB next to a commanding partner. No coincidence at all that 10/11 he was part of a Championship winning team, and then the next year he was also part of a Championship winning team, albeit playing a smaller role. Bet you'll be hoping he can make it three on a bounce, and as I have just about forgiven you for the play-off final, I hope you guys make it too <ok>

    Cheers QPR

He's unlikely to start at centre back as Hudson and Turner have been outstanding there. Indeed our whole back 4 have played well in the first 2 games. However, they all can't play all season and I understand he can play across the whole line so is more likely to get a stint at full back with McNaughton picking up injuries from time to time.

Nevertheless, if he is that good it will ensure there is real pressure on the 2 cb's in particular to ensure they perform at the highest level.

Looks like we are talking to Tommy Smith as well. Not sure about him as he will be no. 4 in the striking pecking order at best.

Glad to see you no longer bear a grudge over 2003. Mind you in your second year in the Prem with us still in the Championship, it is about time. <ok>

If the Dawson deal is confirmed you have a good buy albeit at an inflated price for a 29 year old. However, he will be a great guy to have in the club and a whole hearted defender - if he can avoid injury. I know many Spurs fans want him to stay and let Gallas go.

It was very painful! I think the time after that match is the longest I can remember going without speaking. Oh Tommy Williams, SQUARE THE BALL. I still have nightmares, ha!

gerrard (when he was here) and keinan are good but not good enough to put pressure on turner and hudson, never seen connoley play but i hope he can be a good player for us...

and smith is a very good player, he will be higher than 4th choice for sure...<ok>

Swamp, fair point although if Bellers is worth 15 goals a season there is something of a striker about him. Taking your point of view on that then I would consider Mason above Smith due to his versatility across the front line.

Velikonja came on against Newcastle and took his goal well. He had a good chance well saved by the Brighton keeper last night. Once he has got himself in tune with the Championship he could be a 15/20 goal a season man. He looks quick and tries to play off the shoulder of the last defender. For that to be successful we need to get the ball more promptly through midfield - not like last Friday. <doh>

Having seen Smith play against us for Watford and Pompey I have to say he has never impressed me and I am not sure if he is a winger or striker as he seemed to spend much of his time out wide, while not being particularly quick and not getting really involved, hence my reticence about his signing.

As ever I will be delighted to be proven wrong. <ok>
