Don't get me wrong here, we have bodde who has gone through this, I don't want another player on the books who has had a similar experience
we already have that very player goaly midfield and anywhere in the back line .........of for a team of Alan Tates
Agree with the others here, far to risky! We could do with a cultured but hard barsteward in midfield not a crock
I do not know how long he has been playing for since his last knee operation, but, in theory, a snapped cruciate ligament does not mean that you are more likely to suffer a re-occurrence of the injury IF the reconstruction has been successful and the appropriate and thorough physiotherapy has been undertaken correctly. Indeed, my consultant (of two cruciate reconstructions) swears that a successfully reconstructed cruciate is actually stronger than the original. Many players are testament to this, including our skipper, Monk. The fact that he's Middlesborough's skipper at the age of 24 suggests that the club has faith in his fitness now, and I, for one, would be happy to have him on board as long as he passes the appropriate medical.
Him and Ayala could see Monk being phased out (as he needs to be) and Tatey being more cover for the fullback positions. I'm not worried about his injury past - because it's the past. He's currently fit and any problems would be shown up in a medical, so if he signed for us I'd not be worried.
I think even though he's just signed a three year contract, by the end of it he''ll be firmly operating behind the scenes. I see him playing quite a lot this year, then how many games he'd get next year (assuming the unfortunate thing of "age taking its toll" happens) would depend on what league we're in.
agree with scott with behind the scenes, i would assume BR will see how he handles the first few games and if unsound gradually phase him out
Alan Tate won't be any use from now on - according to the BBC he's had a sex change. "Alana Tate and Leon Britton are the other two players who were involved when Swansea were fighting to climb out of the old Third Division." From article - Garry Monk Agrees New Swansea City Contract!
