Bristol Rovers have today further bolstered their front line by bringing in striker Matt Taylor. The 24-year-old has agreed terms to join Rovers when his contract runs out at Forest Green at the end of the month. The striker, who has been at Forest Green for the last three seasons, turned down interest from Oxford, Mansfield, Chester and Kidderminster to come to the Memorial Stadium. Clarke said: âMatty is a striker that plays off the shoulder and he has a proven goalscoring record in Non League Football. He is an intelligent footballer. I went to watch him last season and he stood out, and I have been chasing him for a few weeks. There have been a lot of clubs after him, but he chose us for the right reasons and he ticked the right boxes for me. Matt began his career in the youth team at Oxford before joining Southern League South & West Division side North Leigh. Whilst there he scored over 80 goals in two seasons. He joined Forest Green in September 2011, after spending a period on trial at Cheltenham Town. Matt is a current member of the England C squad, and scored three goals in two games for his country against Hungary and Sparta Prague B last month. Higgs said: âWe are delighted to welcome Matt to Bristol Rovers. Darrell has started to rebuild his squad for next season, and Matt is another important addition to the side.â http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/matt-taylor-signs-1644760.aspx
So let's see. Brunt, Harrold, White and Taylor that's pretty a pretty damn good strike force with options of the young lads coming up the futures not so dull after all!
at least he aint injury prone! wait until he starts pre season i still think we will get another striker in as well. i hope this isnt just it along with youths like lucas etc. otherwise we will need attacking midfielders who can fit in and do a forwards job too. taylor likes playing just behind a striker so him and gow just behind whoever is the main
But FGR had like 8 strikers like Styche. He went on loan to a struggling conference prem side and scored 6 goals in 7 games.
FGR are minted and have more strikers than CJS has brain cells (7!). I've seem him play and he's decent at Conf level. I'd take him or James Norwood - they're both good. A good signing
Oh yes forgot about Gow. However I think he will leave which shows how good the decision to swap with Eliot was NOT! But with the two signed I'm more than happy and gives us the opportunity to mix things up for most evantalities.
