Good job. What a prospect he looks. I think he is better going forward than Shaw ever looked. The first half on Tuesday evening, he just ran at their rides sided defenders and in the end they almost assaulted him to stop him. Exciting stuff.

Great news. People kept saying how good he was, but you don't always believe the hype. He has played well when he has had the chance...yet another assured youngster. Interesting that he said Koeman was pleased with him during preseason and said they wouldn't be signing another LB, so they took Bertrand on loan. I'm sure Bertrand will get a contract (if he wants to stay), so we'll have 2 great LBs. It's a credit to Targett that we don't look vulnerable when he has stepped in for Bertrand.
I would be interested to see him moved up into left midfield, good crosser of the ball and would add even more bite to our midfield

Yes - as we're discovering we need cover and depth wherever possible. Remember we were moaning in the summer along with Jack Cork's dad about having too many centre mids? Could do with a few more right now...
We have another lb coming through who I rate tho (Debayo). So Targett + Debayo as our lb's then Will Wood is looking good. We only had too many centre mids when Taider was here, we have just enough now. Just a shame that 3 or 4 could be injured/ missing. So it makes sense either way: Keep Bertrand = First team: Bertrand, Targett. U21's: Debayo U18's: Wood Don't keep Bertrand: First team: Targett, Debayo U21's: Wood U18's: new academy intake
Not heard of Debayo, looking forward to seeing more of him. Bertrand can play at LM too remember. The more options the better I reckon. Plus they're all young and English, so we can always flog one for an inflated price to a certain Lancashire or North London club with delusions of grandeur based on glories 30 years ago.
Can't see us not keeping Bertrand...he's been better than they probably hoped. If Targett progresses, there is no reason they can't play in turn as required...happens at other clubs.
We knew that but I did cringe when he said this where I want to spend my career. Huge statement at such s young age. That said, the manifesto is taking the club in the direction of long term commitments.
The best thing is that these youngsters play for us...the second best thing is to sign a contract so we get a decent return on investment. Win, win.
