"> View image | gettyimages.com Matt Phillips has told the London Evening Standard that he is only concentrating on Queens Park Rangers, despite reports linking him with a move to Southampton. The Standard have said that Phillips was attracting the attention of the Saints, but the winger is determined not to get distracted by the mounting clamour for his signature. Phillips says that he still has a lot to prove with QPR and he is not thinking about moving on at this moment in time. “I am fully focused on staying at QPR," he said. "I can’t read too much into talk of a transfer. I have a lot to still prove here. It’s been stop-start for me here but the fans have stayed with me. The manager has shown faith in me, I have a lot to prove and will keep playing for the shirt.” Goals Total Scoring Att Goal Assist Total Att Assist Total Cross Total Contest Final Third Entries Appearances Mins Played Matthew Phillips 2 32 7 30 130 75 71 21 1,462 Phillips' words should encourage QPR fans, but there is a realisation that the skilful attacker could move on should they be relegated from the Premier League this season. Experienced QPR star has an encouraging message for club's supporters[/a] Phillips, though, still appears determined to keep Chris Ramsey's side in the Premier League and that can only be a good thing for the London outfit. The former Blackpool man is one of their most dangerous attacking players and if they are to escape the drop, then he will be crucial to their cause
Strange how quickly things can change, two months ago I would have been delighted if another club offered us money for him. Now I think he is one of the five or six we really want to keep.
I always hoped he would get the chance of an extended run in the first team and return to form. Credit goes to Chris Ramsey for giving him that chance and to Phillips for taking it. I think he has played consistently well under Ramsey and I dearly hope he stays with us for next season.
Face up to the reality that when we go down those of value will be sold and they won't get out of the door quick enough...
Not so sure, Col. He is a confidence player and would certainly fit in better there. Don't you think that he would be an asset for us in the Championship, next season?
COL still thinks Taarabt can be a great player for QPR FFS! Look, anyone who thinks Toilet is any good but Phillips is sh*t needs their head examined. No ifs, buts or maybes. Its straight to the infirmary.
He is probably a bit like us; too good for the Championship, but a struggler in the PL. I still think that he could do something special on the morrow (?)
I realise that I'm in the minority where Phillips is concerned. I don't deny that he has some ability and he certainly has had a couple of very good games, although not in the last few imo. I think his crossing is hit and hope at times and he simply doesn't want to defend in a 4-4-2. He is so laid back and seems to take forever to get up any speed. He does have a fantastic shot and I'd like him to play in a 3 behind a lone striker, where he could interchange positions.
That boy is far from struggling in the PL. If getting more assists than any other player this year is struggling then you're Totally out of your mind, Sir
Like you really Swords (I see it in your posts sometimes!) I think Adel "can be a great player for QPR" again. Ramsey looks the sort of Manager / Coach that could get the best out of him, but I'm not holding my breath. And in case you wonder, no, the infirmary won't even let me in.
I agree with you, although he has been one of our best players since Old Dino limped off. As I said a confidence player, which gives a lot of credit to CR. In the Championship, however, he will be an asset.
The whole squad is struggling in the PL, it is a team game. These assists have come during the last 5-6 games, before these he was awful. Are we discussing marbles again?
The moment we won promotion 4 years ago I wanted him out because I knew he'd be worse than useless for us in the Prem. Ramsey's been here 3 months now & can't even get him to roll over never mind do anything with a football. When we go down Taarabt will have to take a large share of the blame
