I thought it likely he would go out on loan, he deserves to play games. But Exeter? No dis-respect to them but surely he can do better?!
Good luck to Matt. I never understood some of the stick he got for us (OK he was an ex-Ram) but I think he was fairly solid and reliable for us. Unfortunately, with the depth we have in midfield, it was always going to be hard for him to get a game and now we're out of the Carling Cup, I think its probably best he goes elsewhere and plays football which I'd imagine he wants to do at this stage of his career. Also, the young lad Jason Banton that we signed from Liverpool has gone to Burton Albion so it'll be interesting to hear how he gets on.
I've just heard about this. To say that I'm in disbelief is an understatement. Whilst he is getting on a bit, is Exeter really his level these days? Surely not? Oakley is comfortably one of my favourite ever Saints players, so to see him turn out for Exeter (no offence Exeter) is quite sad.
I'm surprised he's gone to Exeter. League 1 is maybe about right but I was thinking somwehere like Charlton or Huddersfield. It could be worse for him though, Steve McLaren might have signed him out of desperation.
I wanted him to sign for Charlton. Back with someone who he knows, at a club on the up and with experience of winning games at a good level. Ah well, i'm sure he'll do well for Exeter so good luck Matty
I think he could of gone to a bigger club. Maybe even lower championship team. He just wants games and no one can blame him Good luck to him as i dont think we will see much more of him in a Leicester shirt I think Steve Howard is next to go
Wonder why Sven said no to Derby but yes to Leicester? probably just speculation about the rams or didn't want him to sign for a rival club
