Just wondering, as the Bolton equivalent of this board is dead, if anyone knew what Trotters fans think of Matt Mills or how he has been getting on? Not sure why I'm bothered, I suppose I am just keen to find out whether he is a decent footballer or whether he just had one good season at Reading.
He has not even featured on the bench in recent weeks..wonder if he has fallen out with dougie...I can't see that though..,
I went and gave them my opinion ages ago as to how good/bad he was on their version of FoxesTalk. They shot me down and said he was clearly a good player because of the 5m we spent. They thought they were getting a bargain at 2m and wondered why I thought we were robbing them blind. I might go over there, try and remember my login and then dig up the thread and see if their opinion has changed
I bet he's thinking, "I really ought to have stayed with Reading, I think they must have been a good team in spite of me, not because of me"
Matt Mills thread on The Wanderer, it starts from when he signs, so you'll have to go several pages in to see what they think of him... http://www.the-wanderer.co.uk/boards/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=23631&sid=b130713e0c66aa8fd7501704598fb5e3
Well Mills cant get in Bolton's squad at the minute and they signed Craig Dawson on loan from West Brom yesterday It tells you all you need to know. He was a class player for Reading, and at times he did show he was a very good defender for us but his ego, discipline and passing let him down
Cheers OLM, looks like they are in agreement that they think he's been disappointing, although the thread only charts the beginning of the season. Like IUTBJF says though, if he is on the bench he can't be pulling up too many trees there.
I really wanted Mills to succeed, the year before he along with Ashley Williams was the best defenders in the league. He scored quite alot of goals and he was a Leicester born lad. Everyone thought he was the new Matt Elliott, things didnt start well for him but he did pick up but then everytime he got a decent run of form he got himself sent off. Its a shame things didnt work out for him but we have now moved on and got a better all round team. Plus he isnt a patch on Wes Morgan
From what I saw of him in the flesh it was soon obvious that this was a solid football league professional who might just do a job in the Prem if he had a far better technical player(s) alongside him ... I suspect that at Reading his technical failings (broadly touch and passing beyond 5 yards) were masked by the likes of Sigurdsson, Hunt, Kebe and co coming deep to give him simple passing options - there is no doubting that he is combative and good in the air in both boxes - However, Dougie Freedman will want his players to pass and move - and that unfortunately for the lad is not MM's strength ...
