Big-spending Leicester City are on the verge of their latest purchase as defender Matt Mills prepares to join from Championship rivals Reading. The Foxes have had an offer of more than £5 million accepted by the Royals. The centre-back will discuss personal terms and complete a medical ahead of a possible move to his hometown club. The 24-year-old's transfer would break the club's current transfer record of £5m which they paid for striker Ade Akinbiyi in 2000. A Reading statement read: "The Leicester-born centre-half expressed an interest in speaking with City and those discussions are now under way." Former Southampton, Manchester City and Doncaster centre-back Mills will initially cost £4.5 million with add-ons.
