As some of you know I have been away working for most of Christmas, I say the results on SSN and I have watched the highlights on MOTD. I always thought when we signed Kilgallon that he did nothing wrong but for some reason he never got a chance. I am just interested now MON has given him a chance how he is has done??. I have always rated him and think he could be a really decent player for us, he has pace and is good in the air, could he be the perfect partner for Brown in the future??

He has played really well, nervy start, but settled in quickly and never looked out of place.
I was impressed with his stopping players getting clean headers, just as important as heading the ball yourself, imo.

Kilgallon has been very good, but so has O'Shea. I reckon O'Shea has found his place in the CB instead of RB position.

With Turner, Bramble, Kilgallon, Oshea and Brown we have good competition for the CB role. RB is our weakest position in defence now, more so than LB where I reckon Bardo, Ricco and Colback can do a good job. Colback and Ricco add more balance in attack than Bardo does so I reckon he might take the RB role.

I like Bardo at RB, I think by the sounds of it we need to sign a LB as Ricco is much better further forward and Colback is a midfielder. Mind you how long have we been saying we need a left back???

I have watched Sunderland for 50 years and Richardson is far and away the worst player ever to play at LB.
He can't tackle, can't pass and I'm certain MON will be looking to bring in a proper LB.

Killa has been very good for us since he made his return to the setup midway through the Man City game and deserves to be apart of our first team squad.

Like you I agree the lad did nothing wrong when he played for us under Brucie two season's ago but apparently they had a falling out in that summer which might of been a reason why he was overlooked from then on by Bruce.

We have got a good list of central defenders now and as someone has rightly said it is O'Shea's best position by a country mile, dont think he is quick enough or good enough going forward to be a good full back and therefore dont think we need to look at central defenders for a good while atleast as we have....

    Wes Brown
    John O'Shea
    Titus Bramble
    Michael Turner
    Matt Kilgallon
    Louis Laing
    John Egan

thats a good group of central defenders IMO just need some good full backs now!

I honestly couldn't fault the lad in both effort and performance..

The way Kilgallon has played, he has to be ahead of Bramble in the pecking order, just for the sheer professionalism of the lad. I honestly hope he gets a good run in the team, because the way he has been performing shows that he has damn well earned it.

I would like to see him given a run as that is the only way we will know how good the lad is. I remember Stan Varga's debut (against Arsenal?) and thinking this could be the best CB we have ever signed. Shows what I know!!!

i think he will be a good player for us, he is calm on the ball aswell and has a bit of pace so lets just see how he gets on and fingers crossed he makes it,
then we can use the money we would have had to spend on a new centre half on and put it towards a great striker :)

I always liked Hinnigan!!!!!! Didn't he and Joe Bolton get sent off together at Burnley and we came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 with 9 men

I remember that, one of the best debut's ive ever seen! Strong, excellent in the air, sprayin balls left right and centre to feet, even recall them doing a feature on MOTD saying what a good player he looked. Good things never last I guess but ud expect them to last more than 1game!

    Ha ha.

To be fair, he had a few games like that, it was just that they wer outnumbered by the ones where he was ´a bit turd´.

Cracking lad though, one of them players it´s good to recall, cult hero for at least some of the right reasons!

Aye like Patrice Carteron (megged Given in the derby) I seem to recall, should have signed him up as a reward just for that!

I remember that Varga debut, we beat Arsenal 1-0 and Quinny scored our goal. I had that on my betting coupon at 50-1, Stan was a 1 man team at the back and kept us in the lead all game.
