Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere but Great to see duke receiving the plaudits for Bradford's win at villa, he has been at the heart of their great cup run and it will be great to see the guy in a final if they can make it. Always liked duke, he seemed like a top bloke and was always reliable when called upon.
I seem to recall him being the first advocate of Movember in the UK. Its not reason enough to hate him.....Just joshing, met him many times, he really is a top bloke and his performance at Fulham in the Manucho win will live long in the memory. He was every bit as good there as he was last night. O/T - that was an ace away game actually. Loads of booze in good pubs before the game, massive City turnout for a midweek match, didnt stop singing from start to finish (I remember the MotD commentator referencing this on the highlights) and we scored with just about our only foray into their half. Amazing on the pitch celebrations from the whole squad afterwards too. Mega stuff.
I think he is good enough to be our second choice keeper, but the lad wanted first team football and he seems to be doing well with Bradford, so good luck to him. Had great game last night, and that could well push his stock value up a bit.
He's better than the performances we saw from Gulacsi and Amos! I would have Stockdale or Manonne over him though.
Matt's performance at Fulham was world class - it ultimately kept us in Prem. Great match to watch - we were murdered but wouldn't lay down
Letting Matt Duke go was the worst thing Hull City have done since the Turner fiasco. He should have stayed was perfect for ther No.2 spot and all cup games. Am so glad that MATT DUKE is doing so well for Bradford now. In todays London mail they spotlight 4 key players from last nights 3-1 win over a Pathetic Aston Villa side. Duke is one of them/ It says, i quote """has spent most of his career at Burton""". Niot a word of Hull City. Talk about being un der the national medias radar, we dont appear to exist to some of the national hacks. Ian Ladyman was the reporter for the London mail by the way. 2000-2004 @ Burton Albion 2004-2011 @ Hull City with loans out to Stockport in 2005, Wycome in 2006. FFS, he spent 7 years @ Hull City the longest period at any club.
I think we are mythical - we will not exist until we burst back into the Prem - then the patronising will start all over again.
I always remember the first week of the season in the Prem when the London media focussed almost entirely on the number of fish n chip shops and takeaways in Hull. Naturally they neglected to consider that there are probably more Mcdonalds alone in London than ALL takeaways in Hull combined and the area around the main stations - Kings X and such like - are basically ALL takeaways. Still, never let the facts get in the way of a good story and all that.
We we're so lucky to have Duke and Bo as keepers. For me, Matt edged it. Bo was the better stopper(just)but Duke commanded his area much better.
I said it at the time and I'll say it now - I know for a fact the defenders preferred playing in front of Duke rather thsn Bo.
There's loads of good shot stoppers. The ones that make the right decisions to come for a ball or not, take crosses and own the box are rare. Duke should still be here now.
As much as it pains me to agree with you - Your actually correct in ^^^^^ these posts. Did you have help with them ??
Gutter press Daily Mirror has done a piece on Matt Duke and it says very little about his time @ Hull City. In fact what very little it does say does not put us in a good light. You make up your own mind after reading it. Talk about paying lip service to his time with the Tigers.!!! www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/bradford-league-cup-hero-matt-1526581
If you have to sit down at a match the away/neutrals end at Fulham is the place to be - great acoustics.
