However we have Tavernier, Raylor and Santon to an extent who can play at RB if need be, if we can get anywhere above 2 million for Simpson I'm all for it.

Santon and Debuchy will be our first choice fullbacks, but after these two, Simpson is definitely the best, and he was solid enough last season.

Tavernier is unproven. Highly rated, but until he's shown us what he can do in the premier league, we cannot say he's ready to step into Simmo's shoes. I mean for christ sake, he's only a youngun, and he's only played like 2-3 games at first team level, and they were only in the cup. And that was when we were mid table/fighting relegation. We're in a whole different league now.

Perch is a good all round defender, but not better than Simmo at RB.

Raylor is a **** fullback. He gets raped by anyone with pace and quality, and he needs Jonas to be constantly rooted in front of him, which will slow our progress.

Simmo is still, IMO, more solid defensively than Santon, however Santon definitely is the better prospect and all round player.

However, you need more than 2 options, and I don't want Raylor or Tavernier starting in a Europa or Premier League match against quite a challenging opponent or in a match that carries quite a bit of significance.

And, also, say Santon or Debuchy get injured, do you really want Raylor or Tavernier to be next in line to be a first choice fullback? Really?

I know we have Perch, but he'll be covering so many areas, and with our luck with injuries, there's a good chance Perch will also have to cover DM or CB, so classing Perch as a first in line cover is a bit risky if all goes tits up.

I'd only be comfortable getting rid of Simmo if we get Debuchy + Another good fullback in.

You need to look at the bigger picture mate. Sorry.
